Charichari's Expansion in the Kurume Region
Charichari Inc., based in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka, is excited to announce the expansion of its bike share service, Charichari, effective September 26, 2025. This initiative is in response to the positive feedback from users and the growing demand for more accessible transportation options in the Kurume area, specifically in the Miyanojin and Komorino neighborhoods.
The expansion will introduce 14 new bike parking ports, significantly enhancing the connectivity and mobility for residents and visitors alike. The addition of these ports makes it easier for individuals to transition from cars to bicycles as their primary mode of transport, while simultaneously increasing access to surrounding areas.
Current Status of Charichari in Kurume
Since launching the bike share service under a partnership agreement with the city of Kurume in April 2024, Charichari has successfully deployed approximately 270 bikes and over 80 parking ports throughout the region. The locations of these parking ports include key transport hubs, such as JR Kurume Station and Nishitetsu Kurume Station, as well as public facilities, commercial establishments, hospitals, convenience stores, and residential buildings.
Thanks to tailored initiatives and user-friendly feedback, Charichari has seen significant growth in usage. A recent user survey conducted in the Kurume area showed that over 90% of respondents were satisfied with the service. The survey also revealed that around 60% of users utilize Charichari for everyday trips such as shopping, followed by 40% using it for commuting or attending school. Additionally, over 70% of respondents reported using the bike share service in conjunction with public transport, showcasing the seamless integration of Charichari into the local transportation ecosystem.
While the existing services have received widespread acclaim, many users have also expressed the desire for expanded operational areas and additional parking ports. In light of these requests, Charichari has made the necessary preparations for this latest expansion.
New Areas of Service in Miyanojin and Komorino
On September 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM, Charichari will officially extend its service to the Miyanojin and Komorino areas. This expansion is made possible through the cooperation of the local government and businesses in Kurume. The newly established bike ports include popular locations requested by the public, such as the Miyanojin City-run Bicycle Parking, Koga Hospital 21, and in front of Kurume National College of Technology, among others.
The area of service has increased from 14.4 square kilometers to 19.8 square kilometers, significantly enhancing mobility for the community. With the inclusion of Miyanojin Station in the service area, residents can look forward to better transportation options. Charichari is committed to promoting environmentally friendly modes of transport through seamless integration with public transport systems.
In addition to improving daily commutes, the bike share service will allow visitors to fully experience Kurume's attractions, especially during significant local events like the Spring Festival and the Chikugo River Fireworks Festival, where visitors flock to the nationally recognized Suwa Shrine. More ports will be installed to facilitate easy movement to these popular destinations.
