Exciting Groundbreaking Ceremony for Downtown Frederick's Marriott Hotel and Conference Center

Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks New Era for Downtown Frederick

On February 9, 2026, Plamondon Hospitality Partners celebrated a significant milestone in the development of the Marriott Downtown Frederick at Carroll Creek by hosting a groundbreaking ceremony. Seen as a vital project for the future of Frederick, Maryland, this full-service hotel and conference center is set to elevate the tourism economy of the area with public and private investments combining to bring a much-anticipated facility to life.

Governor Wes Moore attended the ceremony and highlighted the project's potential to serve as an economic catalyst for both Downtown Frederick and Maryland as a whole. "Today, we're officially launching a long-awaited promise to transform this site into a vibrant hub for both business and leisure travelers. This hotel and conference center represents our determination to compete and succeed together, paving the way for future investments and opportunities for our community," Governor Moore stated.

Economic and community leaders also joined the celebration, stressing how the collaborative efforts between the state, county, and city governments, as well as private investors, demonstrate a unified commitment to future growth. The project includes a total investment of around $23 million from the State of Maryland, complemented by $4.5 million from the local government agencies. This coordinated approach is designed not only to enhance the infrastructure of Frederick but also to drive job creation and foster economic performance.

The Marriott Downtown Frederick will be strategically located along the picturesque Carroll Creek Linear Park, giving it an attractive setting for guests. With 204 guest rooms and over 21,000 square feet dedicated to meeting spaces for events, this state-of-the-art facility aims to become a go-to destination for conferences, business summits, and various regional events. The site's proximity to the rich culture, dining, and entertainment options in the area will serve to further enhance guest experiences.

According to local officials, the location will be the only large-scale hotel and conference facility within Frederick City and County, providing significant economic benefits. Approximately $25.8 million in projected annual spending, in addition to nearly $1 million in local property taxes and $1.5 million in state taxes, are anticipated as a result of this project. An estimated 200 jobs will be created during the process, and the hotel is expected to spur over $100 million in additional development within the downtown area.

Peter Plamondon, Jr., Co-President of Plamondon Hospitality Partners, expressed his enthusiasm about the initiative. "For nearly 30 years, we have supported the growth of Frederick and its community. This groundbreaking marks a renewed commitment to delivering exciting opportunities and enhancing the city's economic landscape."

The construction process will begin shortly, with Plamondon Hospitality Partners focusing on collaboration with residents and local authorities during the construction period to ensure minimal disruption. Community notices regarding the status and any impacts—such as temporary road closures —will be issued as necessary to keep everyone informed.

As Plamondon Hospitality Partners embarks on this journey alongside several local contractors, including DAVIS Construction and FILLAT+ Architecture, the foundations for an impressive addition to Frederick's skyline are being laid, promising a bright future for the town's economy and hospitality industry.
