Stratasys Launches F870™ to Accelerate Additive Manufacturing in North American Factories

Stratasys Introduces the F870™ FDM® System



Stratasys, based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Rehovot, Israel, has revealed its latest large-scale additive manufacturing platform, the F870™ FDM® system. Tailored for industrial manufacturers, automotive OEMs, and the aerospace and defense sectors, this innovative platform aims to enhance production capabilities in factory environments.

The introduction of the F870 system marks a significant expansion of Stratasys' FDM portfolio, boasting capabilities like a "thermal chamber" that heats the entire build space, ensuring large-scale manufacturing with high strength and durable material compatibility, all while maintaining a low total cost of ownership (TCO). As demand grows for systems that can produce tools, fixtures, manufacturing aids, and even end-use parts, the F870™ is designed to fulfill these industry requirements.

With its generous build volume of 1000 × 610 × 610 mm, the F870 offers one of the largest thermal chamber capacities in its class and supports a wide array of industrial-grade materials, including Nylon 12CF™, ASA, ABS, and the new FDM® ABS Draft (Gray). Notably, Nylon 12CF provides the strength, rigidity, and durability demanded in the harsh environments of manufacturing. This platform empowers manufacturers to produce larger tooling, fixtures, and production aids while ensuring reproducibility, durability, and throughput, all critical for modern manufacturing settings.

The F870 is already being implemented by major manufacturers such as the North American division of Toyota, based in Georgetown, Kentucky, and Rivian Automotive in Plymouth, Michigan. These companies are evaluating the platform for a variety of applications, from factory tooling and manufacturing aids to advanced prototyping workflows, ahead of its commercial launch. Initial use cases include producing automotive tooling and manufacturing aids, as well as large fixtures, assembly tools, and inspection gauges, which previously required longer machining lead times.
