MAHLE Achieves Outstanding Recognition in Climate Protection and Water Security
MAHLE, a leading technology company in the global automotive sector, has once again been acknowledged by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for its outstanding efforts in climate protection and water security. In the latest 2025 evaluation, MAHLE has been awarded an impressive ‘A’ rating in climate protection and an ‘A-’ in water security. This remarkable achievement highlights MAHLE's steadfast commitment to sustainability and responsible management of its environmental impact.
A Recognition of Sustained Efforts
Earning a spot on the prestigious ‘A-list’ signifies that MAHLE continues to maintain a leadership-level evaluation within the CDP assessments. Georg Dietz, a member of the Management Board responsible for sustainability, health and safety, and environmental management, asserted, "This recognition serves as evidence that our sustainability strategy is being effectively and consistently implemented. Our climate goals have also been externally verified by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), which assesses the credibility of greenhouse gas reduction targets set by companies."
Strategic Climate Goals and Commitment to CO2 Reduction
MAHLE's focus on energy optimization and the utilization of renewable energy sources has led to a continuous reduction in CO2 emissions. The company has introduced new analytical tools to strengthen risk assessments tied to climate vulnerabilities on a site-by-site basis, enhancing its overall risk management strategy. "The evaluation not only demonstrates our ambitious approach toward climate protection but also underscores its effectiveness, supported by scientific evidence," Dietz added.
Kathrin Apel, Director for Corporate Sustainability, Health and Safety, and Environmental Management, emphasized the significance of the achievement, stating, "Only about 4% of global companies assessed by CDP are chosen for the climate A-list. This illustrates how remarkable this recognition is."
Enhanced Risk Analysis Tools
An exceptional achievement noted during this assessment was the notable improvement in MAHLE's ‘risk disclosure’ under CDP's subcategories. The company adopted a new tool to critically evaluate climate-related risks, allowing for an accurate assessment of vulnerabilities and opportunities stemming from climate change, which are adeptly reflected in its business strategies.
Aligning with the Paris Agreement
MAHLE is committed to producing emission reduction targets that align with the requirements of the Paris Agreement. The results from 2025 showcase the company’s continued efforts to achieve further reductions in CO2 emissions through the introduction of cutting-edge technologies, reducing energy consumption, and increasing the utilization of renewable energy, while transitioning away from fossil fuels. Furthermore, MAHLE emphasizes the importance of incorporating recycled and bio-based materials in product development.
Since 2021, MAHLE’s energy and emissions data have undergone external audits, ensuring transparency and reliability in its sustainability reporting.
