From February 4 to 6, 2026, Tokyo Big Sight will host the 19th LIFE×DESIGN at the Tokyo International Gift Show Spring 2026. The Nara Prefecture will showcase its regional brand, @OKUYAMATO NARA, featuring an impressive lineup of eight brands deeply connected to the Okuyamato region. This year’s theme, “Breathing in Okuyamato Nara,” encapsulates the essence of this mountainous area known for its lush forests and clean air.

Understanding Okuyamato

Okuyamato comprises a collection of 19 municipalities located in the southern and eastern parts of Nara Prefecture, characterized by its stunning mountain scenery and serene highlands. Since ancient times, the people of this region have thrived alongside nature, utilizing timber and natural materials to create essential goods and foster traditional industries.

The concept of @OKUYAMATO NARA emerged to resonate with the unique techniques and creative energies of the area, expanding from one brand at its inception to a total of twelve in just three years. At this Gift Show, a curated selection of eight standout brands will be showcased, each representing the creativity that springs from the region’s breathtaking natural surroundings.

The Theme: “Breathing in Okuyamato”

The subject of this showcase, “Breathing in Okuyamato,” inspires visitors to connect with the pure air that fosters creativity and imagination. It encapsulates the way nature fuels inspiration and the textures and nuances that materials embody. This presentation promises a harmonious blend of natural beauty and contemporary lifestyle, proposing a modern way of living inspired by the 'breath' of Okuyamato.

The showcase highlights the following eight brands, each committed to showcasing craftsmanship and sustainability:
