Introducing HITSTER: The Musical Board Game Taking Japan by Storm with Its Unique Gameplay

HITSTER: A New Musical Board Game

A Thank You for a Successful Pre-Order

On November 7, 2025, GP Inc., headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, proudly announced that pre-orders for their upcoming board game, HITSTER, have exceeded expectations, resulting in the initial stock selling out. This excitement is just the beginning for this innovative musical board game set to be released on November 14, 2025.

To celebrate the overwhelming response, GP Inc. has planned some exciting promotions, including a promotional event at the Game Market 2025 Autumn, where attendees will receive a free HITSTER tote bag. This limited edition will be available on a first-come-first-served basis for the first 1,500 participants and will not include the game itself.

Promotional Video Release

To introduce players to HITSTER, an engaging promotional video has been released, showcasing the game's unique mechanic of matching hit songs with their release years. This is an excellent resource for event promotions and can also be utilized at physical retail locations to spark interest in the game.

What is HITSTER?

HITSTER is more than just a game; it's a musical journey that challenges players to recall popular songs and place them in chronological order based on their release dates. Players use the free HITSTER app alongside Spotify to play songs and effortlessly immerse themselves in the game experience. From beloved classics to trending hits, HITSTER boasts a collection of over 300 tracks, providing an entertaining mix that transcends generations.

Gameplay Overview

1. DJ Role: Players draw music cards and scan the QR code on the HITSTER app to start playing the selected song.
2. Sorting Cards: Once they hear a song, players must guess the release year and arrange their music cards in chronological order.
3. Reveal and Win: Cards are flipped to reveal the year; if the cards are in the correct order, players keep them. The first player to collect 10 cards wins the game.

HITSTER's gameplay encourages social interaction and teamwork and includes cooperative game modes, making it a versatile addition to any game night.

We're Uniting Generations with Music

Originally launched in the Netherlands in 2022, HITSTER quickly became a bestseller in 2023, with over 3 million sales globally across more than 30 countries by 2024. Now, this sensational game is finally making its way to Japanese audiences with a local version set for a late 2025 release.

Design and App Features

The HITSTER app, set to launch officially in late September 2025, allows players to seamlessly connect to Spotify for music playback, enhancing the gameplay experience. Players with a Spotify Premium account will have the additional option to enjoy full choruses of the songs, further enriching their engagement with the game.

Track Selection Process

The selection of the tracklist was a meticulous process, taking into account the karaoke rankings from Pasela, Spotify play counts, and input from various generations to curate a blend of sounds that resonate across ages. This methodology ensures that every song carries significance for players, making the musical experience even more dynamic and enjoyable.
