The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has announced an opportunity for part-time employment with a particular focus on supporting individuals with disabilities. 1. Employment Duration


The employment period is set from June 1st, 2023, to March 31st, 2024. Employment is for a fixed term with the possibility of reappointment based on performance. For those working over 30 hours per week, a one-month conditional employment period will apply.

2. Number of Positions


A limited number of positions are available.

3. Job Title


The title for the role is Associate Administrative Staff (Part-Time Employee) with specific titles depending on hours worked. Please refer to section 6 for more details on working conditions.

4. Job Responsibilities


In this part-time role, employees will primarily work at the Support Office within the Human Resources Division. Key responsibilities include:
  • - Printing business cards
  • - Shredding documents
  • - Handling mail and deliveries (including newspapers and books)
  • - Managing commuting allowance certification tasks
  • - Supporting other departments with tasks such as data entry

Specific duties will be tailored to accommodate the individual's disability and preference. Workplace tours are welcome and encouraged for interested applicants. Additionally, based on suitability, there may be opportunities to work in departments outside the Support Office.

5. Eligibility Criteria


To apply, candidates must have one of the following certifications:
  • - A physical disability certificate issued by a designated medical professional or a letter confirming a specific physical condition.
  • - A certificate confirming intellectual disability issued by local authorities or designated agencies.
  • - A mental health disability certificate.

Candidates must also demonstrate basic proficiency in software applications such as Word and Excel, with a skills check to be conducted during the interview. Some individuals may unfortunately be ineligible due to previous legal stipulations concerning state employment.

6. Working Conditions


(1) Working Hours
- Employees can choose from multiple work schedules depending on personal circumstances and departmental needs. Preferences should be noted in the resume.
- Part-Time Employees: 20 to 29 hours per week with discussions possible. One example of a schedule could be four days a week from 10 AM to 5 PM, and one day from 10 AM to 4 PM.
- Fixed Term Employee: Employment could range from 30 to 35 hours weekly with varied daily schedules based on availability.

(2) Working Days
- Employees are expected to work Monday to Friday, excluding national holidays and year-end holidays from December 29th to January 3rd.

(3) Workplace Location
- The office is located at 3-2-2 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

(4) Leave Entitlements
- Paid leave is available after the completion of six months of employment.

(5) Compensation
- Pay rates vary depending on the role and experience, starting at an hourly rate of JPY 1,311 to JPY 1,675 for part-time employees, increasing based on prior professional experience. For fixed-term employment, daily rates offer a range from JPY 7,868 to JPY 11,725, also influenced by the applicant's previous job history.
- Additional allowances for commuting, overtime, and home-office work will be applicable where relevant. Bonuses are disbursed biannually.

(6) Service Regulations
- The employment will adhere to the Public Service Act and related regulations, albeit with specific exemptions.

(7) Additional Information
- Employees must enroll in health insurance, pension, and employment insurance, fulfilling eligibility criteria for music associations.
