Kuaishou Champions Digital Empowerment for Women and Girls at the Global Education Forum in Beijing

Kuaishou Champions Digital Empowerment for Women and Girls

On September 30, 2025, Kuaishou Technology, a leading content community and social media platform, affirmed its dedication to inclusive development at the International Symposium on Girls' and Women's Education 2025 held at Beijing Normal University. The event, co-hosted by the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO, UNESCO, and Beijing Normal University, brought together female leaders from around the world to discuss practical solutions for promoting education for girls and women globally.

During the forum, Song Tingting, Kuaishou's Vice President and Chair of the Kuaishou Public Welfare Foundation, highlighted the company's latest efforts in empowering women and girls through digital innovations. "Short video and livestreaming platforms like Kuaishou are evolving into powerful tools that help women unlock their potential," Song explained, stating that through technology, women can overcome barriers and engage more substantially in economic and social development.

Bridging the Digital Divide for Women in Rural Areas

Song pointed out the persistent digital divide that women in underserved areas face. "Many women in rural communities still lack access to information and opportunities," she stated. "Our mission is to bridge these invisible barriers with inclusive technology." Since 2018, Kuaishou has launched various initiatives, including the "Happy Rural Leaders" program and the "She-Power" academy, to offer free digital skills training to women in remote regions. These programs have aided women in enhancing their employability, starting businesses, and gaining visibility through the platform.

A poignant example is Kuaishou user Zhang Xiaosi from Linyi, Shandong. After returning to her hometown to care for her sick father, Zhang joined Kuaishou’s "Empowering for Happiness" program. She received free training in livestreaming and e-commerce and started selling local agricultural products online. By 2024, her cherry sales skyrocketed by 36 times, yielding a profit of over 80,000 Yuan (approx. $11,216). The skills she acquired also enabled her to support elderly villagers in earning an extra 700 Yuan (approx. $98) monthly. As of now, Kuaishou has trained over 10,000 women like Zhang, impacting millions across China through income generation and employment support.

Enhancing Girls' Lives through Education and Technology

Beyond digital inclusion for women, Kuaishou is also committed to improving the living conditions of girls in rural areas. Since 2021, the company has collaborated with partners such as the China Children and Teenagers' Fund and local women's associations to initiate aid programs for economically disadvantaged girls, benefiting over 100,000 recipients.

In partnership with the Beijing Women and Children's Development Foundation, Kuaishou has donated equipment and established digital classrooms for 14 rural schools in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. These classrooms host hands-on STEM courses that inspire girls to pursue careers in science and technology.

Starting from 2023, the "Inspiring Minds Academy" summer camp enables students from rural schools to experience an immersive stay in Beijing, gaining intensive scientific and cultural exposures, including museum visits and interactive AI learning sessions. Kuaishou has also joined forces with the China Foundation for Rural Development to provide music education through the "Kuaishou Music Classroom" initiative, reaching over 100 schools in rural areas.

In total, the Kuaishou Public Welfare Foundation has supported over 500 schools, impacting more than 700,000 children and youth through programs in music, sports, and information technology. Kuaishou's initiatives exemplify how digital platforms can be agents of social change by amplifying local voices, building capabilities, and fostering trust. By empowering rural women to launch their own businesses and encouraging young individuals to explore innovations, Kuaishou remains focused on leveraging technology as a driving force for positive change.
