GlobalTree and S.C.P. Japan: A Commitment to Diversity in Child Care
In a significant collaboration, GlobalTree, through its subsidiaries Happylife Care Co., Ltd. and Happi Holdings Corp., organized a training session on December 8, 2025, with S.C.P. Japan. The goal was to enhance understanding of LGBTQ+ diversity and support children's individualities in a nurturing environment.
Background of the Training
Understanding diverse gender identities and promoting inclusivity are essential in child welfare, education, and developmental support. Children often grapple with fears and uncertainties, and recognizing their struggles—especially those tied to identity and expression—is crucial for professionals in these fields. However, there is often a significant disparity in knowledge and awareness surrounding these issues. Unconscious biases can unintentionally affect the support provided to children and families.
The GlobalTree group believes that fostering a supportive atmosphere for children to express their true selves requires each staff member to embrace diversity personally. This means offering understanding and support to the unique identities of each child.
Objectives of the Training
The training aimed to:
1.
Cultivate knowledge regarding gender diversity to deepen understanding in professional settings.
2.
Create a supportive environment where children and their families can thrive and express themselves freely.
3.
Encourage staff to recognize their biases and enhance their interactions with families and children.
Training Highlights
The training featured guest speaker Asahi Yamamoto, representative of Zefore, who, as an LGBTQ+ individual, has dedicated efforts toward promoting diversity. One of Yamamoto’s key messages was that diversity is not just a special topic—it's part of the individuality of every person. Many experience unspoken discomfort and anxiety, not just in their identities but also in everyday situations, emphasizing a broader understanding of emotional well-being in children.
Participants engaged in reflection activities that prompted them to examine their own biases. This self-awareness fosters a more profound understanding of others, encouraging an acceptance of diverse perspectives. Such insights are especially crucial when providing support to children, where knowledge alone is not enough; the approach must also involve respectful dialogue considering each child's background. Participants left with a deeper understanding that knowledge and relational dynamics significantly impact the quality of support.
Future Challenges for GlobalTree
Despite the growing understanding of diversity in contemporary society, unconscious biases still exist. With insights from the training, GlobalTree aims to reinforce the perspective that diversity is not an isolated issue, but rather a shared reality everyone encounters. The agency plans to enhance its support systems to ensure the safety and self-expression of children.
Feedback from staff members indicated significant learning and insights gained:
- - “I realized the importance of not just having knowledge but also envisioning the backgrounds of individuals I support.”
- - “Understanding myself better helps in relating to others, and this connection is vital.”
GlobalTree will continue to offer ongoing training initiatives to instill a culture of respect for diversity throughout the organization. By establishing a secure workplace for staff and ensuring that children have a safe space to express their individuality, the company is committed to fostering collaborative support systems within the community and associated organizations.
