FANCL's Innovative Skincare Seminar for the Visually Impaired
On July 29th, 2023, FANCL held its inaugural skincare seminar specifically designed for visually impaired individuals at the Sakai City Health and Welfare Plaza. This unique event was co-hosted with the center dedicated to supporting visually and hearing-impaired individuals, showcasing FANCL's commitment to inclusivity and empowerment through skincare education.
A Learning Experience Tailored to Individual Needs
The seminar welcomed eleven participants who engaged in hands-on training focused on personalized skincare routines. Each individual shared their specific skin concerns, such as sensitivity, blemishes, wrinkles, and dry or rough skin. This dialogue set the stage for a more focused approach to skincare. With the assistance of specialized products, participants learned how to effectively use lotion, emulsion, and sunscreen tailored to their unique skin types.
Utilizing aging-care and sensitive-skin repair lines, attendees practiced how to apply these products across their faces. Instruction included techniques aligned with the facial muscles and the correct application of the appropriate amount of sunscreen. This hands-on experience allowed participants to understand their skin better.
The Introduction of Touch Mark Stickers
Acknowledging the difficulties visually impaired individuals face in identifying similar-looking cosmetic containers, FANCL introduced its innovative Touch Mark Stickers. Developed in collaboration with visually impaired employees, these stickers allow for easy identification through tactile recognition without relying on braille. Participants had the opportunity to use products equipped with these tactile markers, greatly enhancing their shopping and self-care experience.
Voices of Joy from Participants
As participants learned to rely less on sight and more on tactile feedback, they expressed a newfound appreciation for their skin. Attendees reported feeling the difference in their skin texture after the application process, leading to comments such as, "I haven't touched my skin this carefully in a long time," and "I feel beautiful even without seeing it." Many participants mentioned that the seminar allowed them to reconnect with their skin, noting how pleasing the texture felt after proper care.
This seminar provided not just a necessary skincare routine but a much-needed opportunity for participants to focus on self-care. It underscored the importance of nurturing oneself, regardless of visual ability.
Striving for an Inclusive Society
FANCL remains dedicated to fostering an environment where everyone can thrive. The company plans to continue supporting individuals with disabilities, emphasizing the importance of self-care and beauty. Understanding that visually impaired individuals often face challenges in assessing their skin, FANCL is committed to providing tailored solutions and community support.
FANCL's ongoing efforts aim to ensure that all individuals, regardless of their disabilities, can lead healthy and fulfilling lives. By offering events like the skincare seminar, FANCL underscores its mission to create an inclusive society where everyone can embrace their individuality and maintain good health.
