ZTE Achieves CDP Climate A Rating for Third Year, Standing Out in Global Rankings
ZTE Corporation, a leader in integrated information and communication technology solutions, has made headlines once again by being named on the CDP's Climate A list for the third year in a row. This exceptional achievement places ZTE in the exclusive tier of the top 4% of companies worldwide, underscoring its commitment to environmental governance and climate action.
The recognition from CDP, a prestigious international platform focusing on environmental disclosure, demonstrates ZTE's systemic approach to sustainability. The organization evaluates a wide range of companies based on their performance in climate governance, target-setting, action efficacy, and risk management capabilities. In 2025, over 22,100 companies reported their climate and sustainability data to CDP, representing more than half of the total global market capitalization. Achieving an 'A' grade indicates that ZTE operates at the forefront of climate action, showcasing its progressive strategies that align with a low-carbon economy.
ZTE’s journey towards sustainability is embodied in its commitment to a comprehensive green strategy that integrates ecological principles into every facet of its development. This includes a structured approach across four critical dimensions: Green Operations, Green Supply Chain, Green Digital Infrastructure, and Green Empowerment. As part of its Green Operations initiative, ZTE has implemented various energy-saving measures that have collectively saved about 45 million kWh of electricity. Furthermore, they recorded a remarkable reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 13.4% compared to the previous year, emphasizing the effectiveness of their strategies. ZTE's telecommunications products have also seen an 8.39% decrease in emission intensity during use, while terminal products achieved a 5.02% annual reduction in absolute emissions throughout their lifecycle.
In 2024 alone, ZTE managed to reduce its Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions by over 14 million tons compared to 2023 levels, demonstrating a robust commitment to its long-term environmental goals. As part of its Green Supply Chain efforts, ZTE has integrated green innovation requirements into its supplier management systems, actively auditing over 450 industrial suppliers and providing carbon accounting support to 152 suppliers. ZTE's initiatives have driven 51 suppliers to set emission reduction targets, effectively extending their environmental impact beyond their own operations.
With over 800 green patents and carbon footprint assessments conducted on 240 products across various categories, ZTE has positioned itself as a leading proponent of green digital infrastructure. Its eco-friendly, end-to-end solutions have benefited global operators, helping them save over 10 billion kWh of electricity annually.
ZTE also champions Green Empowerment by leveraging modern technologies such as AI, IoT, and big data to enhance traditional sectors for mutual benefits in development and emission reduction. They engage with over 2,000 industry leaders to implement innovative green practices based on 5G across multiple sectors, including metallurgy, electronics production, ports, rail transportation, mining, and energy. This has led to the establishment of over 100 innovative application scenarios, highlighting ZTE's pivotal role in the ongoing transition to sustainable practices.
Recognizing the need for ambitious climate action, ZTE has received official endorsement from the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for both its near-term targets and long-term commitments towards net-zero emissions. Furthermore, ZTE has been awarded a Gold Medal from EcoVadis, further solidifying its standing amongst the world’s leading enterprises recognized for responsible business operations.
Aligned with global sustainability frameworks such as the UN Global Compact and the COP29 Green Digital Initiative, ZTE is dedicated to enhancing its role as a key player in the digital economy. The company firmly believes in collaborating with global partners to strive for a smarter, greener future while making impactful contributions towards tackling global climate change, ultimately paving the way for a more sustainable world.
