Junior Achievement of the Triad Unveils Innovative Finance Park Mobile for Student Education

Junior Achievement of the Triad Launches Innovative Finance Park Mobile

In a major stride towards enhancing financial literacy among students, Junior Achievement of the Triad, supported by a joint investment of $200,000 from Truliant Federal Credit Union and Toyota North Carolina, recently unveiled the Finance Park Mobile initiative. This innovative program aims to provide students with vital financial skills and career readiness training directly in their community.

A New Approach to Financial Education

The JA Finance Park Mobile is set to impact over 5,000 students in grades 6 through 12 across 56 schools in the Piedmont Triad region, which includes Alamance, Forsyth, Guilford, Randolph, and Rockingham counties. This initiative targets schools in high-need areas, striving to bridge significant educational gaps for vulnerable demographics.

Grace Thompson, the president and CEO of Junior Achievement of the Triad, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "The commitments from Toyota North Carolina and Truliant give JA Finance Park Mobile the momentum to become a lasting regional resource... This program connects classroom learning with local employers’ needs, helping students identify career pathways and acquire the skills necessary to pursue them."

Expanding Access to Financial Literacy

The Finance Park Mobile combines immersive experiences with traditional classroom lessons to help students practice financial concepts in real-world contexts. By participating in a simulated mobile city, they can explore various careers, delve into credit and debt management, as well as learn how to create a personal budget. This hands-on experience is designed to instill financial competence and foster informed decision-making as they age into adulthood.

Todd Hall, president and CEO of Truliant, expressed his support for the initiative, noting, "We believe practical financial education should be accessible at every stage of life. JA Finance Park Mobile gives students an early opportunity to manage money and make informed decisions about their futures."

Integrating Community and Education

In its inaugural year, the program is expected to involve more than 100 educators and 200 community volunteers, equating to approximately 1,500 volunteering hours over 120 program days at school sites. This collaboration between community members and students not only enhances educational opportunities but also strengthens the local workforce pipeline.

"Today's students are tomorrow's workforce," Thompson remarked. Through partnerships with organizations like Toyota and Truliant, young individuals will gain crucial financial and career awareness to facilitate informed choices that ultimately influence their futures.
