Huawei Champions Digital Intelligence for Healthcare at MWC 2025
During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held in Barcelona, Huawei significantly emphasized its commitment to transforming global healthcare through digital intelligence. The session titled
'Digital Intelligence Drives Inclusive Healthcare' served as a hub for experts to discuss advances in health technology, particularly the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing patient care.
Pioneering Changes in Health Technology
Dr. Peter Zhou, Huawei's Vice President and Head of Data Storage Products, elaborated on the company's strategic framework, which advocates for
'always available data and value release.' This strategy has led to the development of innovative products such as a multimodal converged data lake and DCS AI, which are designed to enhance AI capabilities within the healthcare domain. These technologies aim to streamline processes while improving overall patient outcomes.
Wind Li, the Vice President of Huawei and CEO of the Global Public Sector Business Unit, highlighted that the company has extended its help to over
5,600 healthcare institutions across more than
110 countries. This initiative is pivotal in fortifying the foundations of digital transformation and intelligent healthcare, while accelerating innovation and the integration of AI in medical settings.
The potential of AI was further articulated by Hong-Eng Koh, Huawei's Chief Scientist for the Global Public Sector Business Unit. He accentuated that AI technology holds the promise of vastly improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, alleviating the workload of medical professionals, and providing customized treatment plans tailored to individual patients’ needs.
Collaboration in the Health Ecosystem
Luis Santiago Sánchez Fernández, the Chief Technology Officer of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), shared insights into
Diraya, a centralized Health Information System (HIS)/Electronic Medical Record (EMR). This system enables equitable healthcare access for nearly
9 million residents, implementing regional healthcare strategies aligned with the
2030 Digital Health Strategy of Andalusia (ESDA). With Huawei's collaboration, SAS is committed to delivering intelligent, human-centered healthcare services that ensure efficiency and security.
Tsvetomir Nikolov, the IT Director of Acibadem City Clinic in Bulgaria, underlined the vital role of digital technology in delivering comprehensive patient services. Acibadem's partnership with Huawei aims to create an intelligent hospital campus and active data centers, which are projected to enhance data access performance for their HIS/PACS/EMR services by tenfold.
Feng Feng, the Sales and Business Development Director for KFBIO in Europe, shed light on the integration of deep learning algorithms within their AI pathology solutions. This collaboration between KFBIO and Huawei aims to elevate the accuracy and efficiency of pathological diagnostics, revolutionizing how healthcare providers approach diagnostic processes.
Future Perspectives
Looking ahead, Huawei is set to amplify its investments in technological innovation, focusing on further integrating AI across scenario-based solutions to propel medical intelligence. This strategic push will also support the overarching goal of universal healthcare access, reinforcing Huawei's commitment to the health sector globally.
The dialogues and collaborations showcased at MWC 2025 spotlight Huawei's dedication to elevating healthcare through advanced technology and partnerships, promising a future where intelligent health solutions are a standard, not a luxury.
