Michter's to Unveil US1 Barrel Strength Rye in 2025

In an exciting announcement for whiskey enthusiasts, Michter's Distillery has revealed plans to launch its US1 Barrel Strength Rye in March 2025. Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson have given their approval for this much-anticipated release, emphasizing the distillery's dedication to quality and tradition.

Joseph J. Magliocco, the president of Michter's, expressed pride in the evolution of American rye whiskey. He stated, “When we first started selling our rye whiskey many years ago, American rye was often viewed as a mere substitute for other spirits. Today, the Michter's team takes great pride in our ryes, and it is heartwarming to see this category of exceptional whiskey come into the spotlight.” Michter's US1 Barrel Strength Rye will feature a unique blend primarily of rye, complemented by corn and malted barley, reflective of its Kentucky-style heritage.

During tastings, many individuals who claim not to enjoy rye whiskey often find themselves pleasantly surprised by the flavors of Michter's. McKee remarked, “This Kentucky-style rye at barrel strength offers a fantastic way to appreciate the traditional characteristics of rye whiskey while delivering a delightful balance of sweetness and spice.”

The forthcoming release is a barrel strength product, with the average proof for the 2025 iteration set at 110.5 (55.25% ABV). Retailers across the United States will offer the 750 ml bottles at a suggested retail price of $120.
