Subaru's Generous $3.1 Million Commitment to Animal Shelters This October

Subaru of America, Inc. has officially announced an impressive commitment of over $3.1 million to aid animal shelters nationwide this October through its cherished Subaru Loves Pets® initiative. This generous funding will be administered by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), marking Subaru as the largest corporate contributor to their cause. This partnership aims to enhance the quality of care and services available at local animal shelters, ensuring that as many pets as possible are fostered, adopted, or find loving homes.

This initiative is not just about financial support; it represents Subaru's profound dedication to animal welfare. Since the program's launch, Subaru has contributed over $70 million to various animal welfare organizations, supporting the rescue, transport, and health of over 700,000 pets. The heartwarming efforts made by the automotive giant emphasize the belief that every pet deserves a loving home.

As part of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, more than 630 participating retailers will provide essential grants to shelters, helping with adoption preparation, veterinary care, and other vital services. These funds are expected to significantly alleviate the financial burdens faced by shelters, allowing them to focus on what they do best: caring for animals in need.

In conjunction with this support, Subaru is thrilled to celebrate the seventh annual National Make a Dog’s Day on October 22nd. This special day encourages dog lovers across the nation to consider adopting or fostering a shelter pet, especially those cherished “underdogs”—older or disabled dogs often overlooked in shelters. Particularly, Subaru is launching a compelling ad campaign centered around this idea, featuring a heartwarming 30-second spot titled "The First Thing You Notice." The campaign is set to be showcased during the TODAY Show on NBC and on various digital platforms throughout the month.

The ASPCA estimates that around 5.8 million animals entered U.S. shelters in 2024. The ongoing plight of these animals is an urgent reminder of why Subaru is determined to help where it can. Subaru’s initiative serves as an inspiring model, prompting individuals to support their local animal shelters, whether through adoption, fostering, or simply spreading the word.

Throughout the month of October, Subaru retailers will host a variety of events, including in-person adoption drives and microchipping clinics, aimed at facilitating the adoption process for animals in need. Additionally, for every purchase of select items from Subaru Parts Online, Subaru will extend its support by donating $20 to the ASPCA, with total donations capped at $10,000. This is made possible through products such as the Genuine Subaru Pet-Friendly Accessories designed specifically for animal lovers.

Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Subaru of America, expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to pets, stating, "Subaru has an unparalleled devotion as advocates for the unconditional love that pets bring into our lives. By partnering with the ASPCA and engaging our network of retailers, we are dedicated to helping shelter animals find loving homes in communities across the nation."

Subaru encourages everyone to take part in this touching initiative and to share their special moments with their pets on social media, using the hashtag #MakeADogsDay. Each gesture, big or small, can inspire others to join in the fight against animal homelessness. Through their Subaru Loves Pets initiative, Subaru of America is not only supporting the pets in need but is also fostering a sense of community and love towards our furry friends.
