GOL Airlines Expands Horizons with New Direct Flights to Portugal

In a bold move, Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas is set to enter the intercontinental travel market with the launch of direct flights to Portugal. GOL will commence operations on September 16, 2026, offering direct flights from RIOgaleão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport. From September 16 to October 24, flights departing Rio de Janeiro will leave at 8:00 AM local time, arriving in Lisbon at approximately 9:40 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. On Fridays, the departure will occur slightly later at 8:05 AM, landing in the Portuguese capital at 9:45 PM local time. Following this period, from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027, the schedule will adjust with flights leaving Rio at 9:00 AM and landing in Lisbon at 9:40 PM.

For passengers traveling from Portugal to Brazil, the flights will take off from Lisbon at 11:30 PM on the same days, reaching Rio the following morning at 5:30 AM. Notably, the Friday flight will leave Lisbon at 11:35 PM and arrive at RIOgaleão at 5:35 AM on Saturday.

Earlier this month, the airline also announced the sale of tickets for direct flights from Rio de Janeiro to New York (JFK), set to launch on July 8, 2026, with three weekly flights.
