Taiwan Tourism Administration Launches Engaging Workshops Across Three Major US Cities
Taiwan's Tourism Expansion in the US
The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) has recently launched an exciting workshop series in three major cities: New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. This initiative, which kicked off on September 25, 2026, aims to strengthen connections with the travel industry and promote Taiwan as a preferred destination for American tourists.
Over 70 local travel representatives gathered in New York for the first workshop, showcasing the significant interest in what Taiwan has to offer. The TTA delegation, consisting of Taiwanese travel agencies, hotels, and airlines, aims to highlight the diverse experiences available in Taiwan while reestablishing connections with American travel professionals after a seven-year break in the Midwest market.
According to recent data, in 2025, over 710,000 visitors from the United States made their way to Taiwan, with tourism representing 60% of these visits — a significant milestone for the destination. These figures reflect the growing interest in Taiwan, supported by the country's robust air connectivity, boasting over 200 weekly flights connecting it to 13 major North American cities.
Ambassador Chih-Chiang Lee, the Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York, emphasized Taiwan's natural beauty and safety, inviting travelers to explore the country’s magnificent mountains and varied landscapes. He stated, "Whether it is a first visit or a return trip, travelers can discover different surprises every time." This sentiment resonates with the growing trend of travelers returning to Taiwan, as evidenced by the repeat visitor statistics from 2025, which saw a record match with pre-pandemic levels.
Claire Hsu, Marketing Manager of TTA, introduced the concept of "Taiwan never sleeps," emphasizing the country's safety, 24-hour convenience, and rich, diverse experiences available year-round. She mentioned that regardless of the time of arrival, visitors are guaranteed an exciting journey.
The TTA’s “Tourism Dual-Wheel Drive Program” targets not just first-time visitors but also those returning for leisure or business purposes. With a focus on enhancing American travelers' engagement, TTA promotes incentives such as the
