Taiwan Tourism Workshop Revives Connections in Chicago for Better Travel Relations
The Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) recently revitalized its presence in the Midwest by hosting a tourism workshop in Chicago on September 16, 2026. This event marked a significant return after a seven-year absence, showcasing Taiwan's rich cultural landscape and strong tourism potential to local travel agents and industry representatives.
With over 200 weekly direct flights connecting North America to Taiwan, the island aims to capture the attention of American travelers eager for new experiences. The Chicago workshop attracted 53 participants from the local travel sector, alongside diplomats from countries including Belize, Lithuania, and Poland. This gathering was part of a broader three-city workshop series that also included stops in New York and Los Angeles from September 14-18, 2026.
During the workshop, attendees were introduced to Taiwan’s unique tourism offerings. TTA's Director-General in Chicago, Dennis Yen-Feng Lei, emphasized the appeal of Taiwan's culinary scene, which features diverse dishes such as the notorious stinky tofu and delectable xiaolongbao. He noted that Taiwan is a destination where visitors can fully immerse themselves in vibrant city life and feel safe while exploring at any hour.
Through the introduction of the “Taiwan Never Sleep” concept, TTA's Marketing Manager, Claire Hsu, highlighted the destination's safety, accessibility, and around-the-clock excitement.
