Tamaism Project: A New Era of Student Engagement
The Tamaism Project is an innovative initiative designed to foster collaboration between students, local businesses, and the Minami-Tama area, consisting of five cities. From 2021 to 2024, the project has evolved from the Tamaism Contest, incorporating expert advice from small and medium enterprise consultants to enrich student engagement and urban development efforts.
This year's efforts will focus on enhancing tourism promotion by leveraging the fresh perspectives and creative ideas contributed by students. The project encourages participants to explore themes around "local town development within each city" and "cross-regional tourism development." This dynamic collaboration aims to enhance tourism strategies that resonate with the unique characteristics of each municipality.
The project is positioned uniquely as the first of its kind in Tokyo, aiming to invite students who are willing to participate in brainstorming and trial implementations of tourism promotions across these five cities. This provides an exciting opportunity for students to not just contribute ideas but engage in meaningful discussions with businesses and government officials who can help them realize their concepts.
To launch this initiative, there will be an
Online Briefing Session for the Tamaism Contest on:
- - Date: April 25, 2025 (Friday) 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
- - Content: Overview of the project objectives and an introduction to the five cities of Minami-Tama. Notably, a guest speaker from a private company that has previously commercialized student proposals will share insights.
- - Target Audience: Teams consisting of two or more students from universities, graduate schools, junior colleges, technical colleges, or vocational schools. There is no capped limit on team size.
- - Method: Online via Zoom
- - Application Deadline: Participants can register through this email form until April 23, 2025.
This project is spearheaded by the
Tamaism Project Executive Committee, representing all five cities:
Tama City, Inagi City, Hachioji City, Hino City, and Machida City. The project is supported by
Keio Travel Co., which acts as the administrative office, along with contributions from Tama University’s Nagashima Seminar.
The Tamaism Project is not merely an academic exercise but a practical engagement that aims to make tangible impacts on community tourism. It seeks to empower students while simultaneously addressing the real-world challenges faced by local businesses in their economies. We welcome all interested students to join us in making a difference in the Minami-Tama area.
Let your ideas create a bridge between academia and local business, promoting sustainable growth and vibrant community interactions!
