Ocean and Lighthouse Summit Symposium
On October 21, 2025, the Ocean Culture Creation Forum will host the "Ocean and Lighthouse Summit Symposium" as a pre-event for the "Ocean and Lighthouse Week" starting on November 1. This event, aimed at illuminating the theme "Good Winds Were Blowing: Lighthouse Time", will feature Takushi Izawa, a renowned quiz player, alongside seven distinguished experts from various fields. The focus will be on how to enjoy maritime experiences, ways to spend time around lighthouses, and presenting new perspectives on visiting lighthouses through the lens of travel, tourism, psychology, and community development.
Traditionally held during the Ocean and Lighthouse Week, this year's symposium aims to raise awareness prior to the week by presenting a variety of discussions. The goal is to envision a future connecting people through lighthouses that act as gateways to the sea. This event is part of the Japan Foundation's "Ocean and Japan Project" to ensure enriching and beautiful seas for future generations.
