CATACARB® Wins Carbon Remover Award at Carbon Capture Canada 2025

CATACARB® Wins the Carbon Remover Award

CATACARB, a leader in carbon removal technology, proudly announces its victory at the Carbon Capture Canada 2025 event held in Edmonton. The company received the Carbon Remover Award for its extraordinary contributions to innovative and effective carbon dioxide (CO2) removal solutions.

This prestigious recognition highlights the advancements made by CATACARB in developing technologies that significantly impact the environment by reducing atmospheric CO2 levels. The company's efforts are crucial to advancing methods that facilitate sustainable carbon management in various industries.

CATACARB's recognition primarily stems from its pivotal role in the Stockholm Exergi project, the first large-scale negative emissions plant in Europe. Utilizing its patented Enhanced Hot Carbonate (HPC) technology, CATACARB has played a critical role in the design and engineering processes for this project. The company not only licensed its groundbreaking technology but also provided ongoing engineering support to Stockholm Exergi and its selected partner, Saipem, responsible for detailed engineering, procurement, and construction.

Tobias Pelicano, Project Director at Stockholm Exergi, emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating, "CATACARB has consistently responded swiftly to our needs and requirements throughout different phases of design, providing exceptional support."

This accolade reinforces CATACARB's commitment to leading in commercial CO2 removal solutions while accelerating the deployment of proven technologies aimed at reducing environmental impact. The Stockholm Exergi project exemplifies how applied engineering, strategic licensing partnerships, and collaborative project execution can drive industrial-scale carbon removal.

The plant is set to prevent approximately 800,000 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere each year, marking a significant milestone in global efforts to combat climate change. Dr. Gary Buckholz, CEO of CATACARB, accepted the award on behalf of the late A. G. Eickmeyer, who developed the CATACARB technology, perfected over 65 years, and acknowledged Marc Donnelly, the Vice President and General Manager of CATACARB, for leading the engineering team essential to this important work.

About CATACARB
