On July 30, 2026, Mobimaru, a mobile sales platform operated by Synchro Food Inc. from Shibuya, Tokyo, formalized an agreement with Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture. This partnership focuses on utilizing kitchen cars for meal distribution during disasters, including earthquakes and large-scale power outages, ensuring that warm, nutritious meals reach evacuees swiftly.

Scope of the Agreement

The agreement outlines essential measures that prioritize immediate and hygienic food deliveries when vital services are disrupted during emergencies. Access to hot meals is identified as a crucial factor in maintaining both the quality of life in evacuation centers and the physical and mental health of those affected.

Key Initiatives

1. Meal Distribution: Registered kitchen car operators from Mobimaru will conduct meal provisions at evacuation centers established by Nishinomiya City.
2. Resource Provision: Synchro Food will supply procurable food items and other essentials to Nishinomiya City.
3. Meal Preparation: Nishinomiya City will provide basic ingredients which will be prepared and served by the kitchen cars.

Collaboration Background

Mobimaru has previously collaborated with Nishinomiya City through the “Walkable Promotion Project” around the city hall, where they supported lunchtime sales of kitchen cars starting December 2025. These activities laid the groundwork for this agreement, emphasizing the need for quick disaster relief leveraging the agility of kitchen cars.

Nobushiro Ishii, Mayor of Nishinomiya, expressed gratitude for the partnership, highlighting the significance of providing warm meals to evacuees, which cannot be replaced by emergency supplies. He emphasized the importance of this agreement in ensuring that citizens receive both comfort and nourishment promptly after a disaster.

Akio Ota, Founding Brand Officer of Mobimaru, shared insights about their vision since launching the mobile platform in 2019. They believe that mobile sales serve as a means to address social issues, underlining their commitment demonstrated during previous disasters, such as their support during the Noto Peninsula earthquake in 2024. He expressed pride in collaborating with Nishinomiya to harness kitchen cars for disaster assistance.

Mobimaru has established itself as Japan's largest mobile sales platform, utilizing AI and membership data to streamline operations. With over 10,000 registered operators and more than 5,500 vehicles (as of November 2025), Mobimaru’s national network enables collaboration with local governments and various stakeholders for disaster preparedness. Past initiatives include aiding kitchen car dispatch in partnership with the Regional Revitalization Project during the 2024 Noto Peninsula earthquake and signing a disaster agreement with Shinagawa City in June 2025.
