The Future of Aging: Immersive Therapeutics Launch in Texas for Seniors

The Great American Elderverse™ Comes to Texas

In a significant initiative set to transform the aging experience in Texas, Mynd Immersive partnered with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) Foundation, ATT, Lyda Hill Philanthropies, and Select Rehabilitation to unveil the Great American Elderverse™. This program aims to deliver immersive therapeutics via Virtual Reality (VR) to seniors across the state, with a focus on alleviating loneliness, anxiety, stress, and cognitive decline.

Chris Brickler, the CEO of Mynd Immersive, emphasized the importance of this project, stating that it symbolizes a merging of science and compassion, aimed at enhancing the dignity and engagement of aging adults. "The future of aging is taking shape in Texas," he remarked, highlighting the company's goal to provide accessible digital care to this growing demographic. The launch is marked by the establishment of their new global headquarters at 3000 Pegasus Park, underlining Texas's central role in this venture.

The first site to receive this innovative service is Umphress Terrace in Dallas. Program Director Angie McWhirter expressed enthusiasm about the program, describing it as a means for residents to explore the world, revisit fond memories, and better their mental and physical well-being—all from the comfort of their chairs. She boldly stated that this represents more than just technological advancement; it embodies hope, healing, and connection.

Research supports the initiative's effectiveness. A landmark study from Stanford University revealed that over 80% of older participants using Mynd Immersive reported mood improvements, along with more than 90% noting enhanced relationships with caregivers. In a separate analysis derived from CMS-funded data encompassing 34 senior communities in Indiana, an impressive 91% of seniors experienced reduced social isolation, reinforcing the program's potential impact.

"Our belief is that connection changes everything. Implementing immersive therapeutics through our secure, reliable 5G technology enables older adults to engage with these experiences safely," said Joe Drygas, ATT's President of Healthcare. He emphasized that this collaboration is centered on utilizing technology to foster significant human connections, especially for those who need it the most.

The Great American Elderverse™ initially launched successfully in 2024 across 60 low-income senior communities in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area. It equips senior establishments with lightweight VR headsets, AI-assisted care tools, tablets, and a specialized library of therapeutic content designed for older adults. The immersive experiences include virtual travels, cultural events, reminiscence therapy, cognitive stimulation, mindfulness sessions, and interactive applications supporting various forms of therapy in cooperation with Select Rehabilitation.
