The Esports World Cup Foundation announced a spectacular end to the Esports World Cup 2025 (EWC 2025) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Team Falcons emerged victorious, securing the coveted Club Championship Trophy along with an impressive $7 million prize. The grand trophy was ceremoniously awarded to Musaad AlDossar, CEO of Team Falcons, by none other than HRH Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia. The event reached unprecedented heights when international superstar Cristiano Ronaldo presented the trophy during an unforgettable closing ceremony.
The competition spanned seven intense weeks, culminating in a dramatic finish that saw Team Falcons skillfully accumulate 5,200 points over 22 tournaments. Their victories included standout performances in popular games such as Overwatch 2, along with notable placements in Dota 2, Chess, PUBG BATTLEGROUNDS, Rocket League, and Counter-Strike 2. Following them in the final rankings were Team Liquid with 4,200 points, Team Vitality at 4,050, Twisted Minds, and Virtus.pro, each comfortably trailing the leading team.
As the tournament progressed into its final weeks, competition remained fierce with seven clubs fighting for the top position, separated by a mere 1500 points. The scenario intensified as Team Falcons solidified their championship in the final week after Team Liquid's chances were thwarted by the elimination of their Street Fighter 6 player.
HRH Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, Chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation, hailed the success of this year's tournament, emphasizing the significance of esports in shaping cultures and societies globally. He extended his congratulations to Team Falcons, highlighting their achievement as a reflection of the Kingdom's growing prowess in hosting major international events.
The EWC 2025 showcased all-time record viewership, amassing 750 million viewers and a staggering 350 million hours of content watched, surpassing the inaugural event of 2024. The festival successfully attracted 3 million visitors to Riyadh’s Boulevard City, an increase from the previous year's attendance. Moreover, roughly 300,000 international tourists visited the city during the tournament timeframe, underscoring Riyadh’s burgeoning role as a premier global destination for esports and entertainment.
According to Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation, the event not only elevated the status of esports but also solidified its place as one of the leading sporting events in the world. He emphasized the commitment of the EWC to continue fostering an impactful environment for players, clubs, and fans alike.
With over 2,000 players from 100 countries competing through 25 tournaments, the prize pool surpassed $70 million, marking the largest in esports history. The competition was fierce, with players demonstrating extraordinary skill and determination.
In a showcase of talent, Magnus Carlsen made history by winning the inaugural chess event, while 15-year-old Rasyah
