Before this new position, Makan Delrahim was a partner at the prestigious law firm Latham & Watkins LLP, where he counseled clients through complex mergers, government investigations, and significant crisis situations. Delrahim also has a strong background in governmental roles, having served as the 35th Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). In this capacity, he oversaw scrutinizing and resolving numerous mergers and acquisitions while expanding engagement with international counterparts in antitrust matters. He played a notable role in restructuring the Antitrust Division, establishing sections focused on media, entertainment, fintech, and financial services.
An esteemed figure in antitrust law, Delrahim has lectured globally at respected institutions including Stanford, Harvard, and UCLA. He currently teaches law at the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on the role of government in merger transactions.
