Haier’s Innovative Horizon Refrigerator Launch
Haier, a global pioneer in home appliances, has launched its
Horizon Collection of refrigerators in
Vietnam, marking a significant milestone in enhancing food preservation standards and appliance design in tropical climates. The unveiling took place on May 29, 2026, and aims to cater to the growing demand among Vietnamese consumers for advanced food preservation solutions.
Meeting Tropical Freshness Needs
In the context of Southeast Asia's warm and humid climate, keeping food fresh is a challenge. The Horizon refrigerator series is designed to meet this demand through innovative technologies that ensure food stays fresh under various conditions. The refrigerator includes special features that offer four different scenarios tailored to everyday life: preserving fruits and vegetables for up to seven days, and keeping meat fresh for ten days using industry-first HCS (Humidity Control System) and magnetic freshness technology.
This groundbreaking technology has been awarded a gold medal at the International Invention Expo in Geneva and received VDE certification for maintaining over 95% of the meat's protein content during storage. Additionally, the Horizon line features the sector's first integrated ice maker, which is entirely separate from the food storage area to prevent unwanted odor transfer, ensuring the production of clean, pure ice quickly.
Boasting an impressive capacity of up to 716 liters, adjustable shelves, and deep door bins, this refrigerator easily accommodates shopping for the entire week, including vertical storage for 1.5-liter bottles. Certain models even incorporate
AI Vision technology, which automatically recognizes and logs the type and quantity of food items, simplifying food management for users.
Expansion Strategy in Southeast Asia
Vietnam stands as the largest market for premium refrigerators in Southeast Asia, accounting for more than half of the regional sales. Just in January 2026, Haier’s sales doubled month-over-month and increased by over 60% compared to the previous year, solidifying its leading position within the market. Comparative demonstrations at retail locations allow customers to experience Haier's preservation technology firsthand.
Remarkably, the Space Fit series matched competitor sales figures from eight months within just five weeks, generating revenue five times higher, effectively positioning itself at the forefront of the smart home transition in Vietnam. Haier, already leading in both market share and growth in Vietnam, is set to expand its product range in response to increasing demands for food preservation with the launch of the
Horizon Series.
In 2025, Haier established its brand within Vietnam and formed a strategic partnership with
DMX, the country's top home appliance distributor. Their
AQUA washing machines currently hold the largest market share in Vietnam. As of April 2026, Haier maintained its lead with a market share growth exceeding 40% across Vietnam and Malaysia.
Plans are also underway to launch the Horizon Collection in
Indonesia and
Thailand, reinforcing Haier’s commitment to premium segment leadership across the region. This launch marks a pivotal transition for Haier's refrigerator division, shifting focus from volume leadership to premium branding.
User-Centric Innovations
Looking to the future, Haier is dedicated to placing the user at the center of its strategy, enhancing local innovation, and modernizing its brand to maintain its market leader status. Continuous advancements and tailored experiences will further enable the brand to provide optimal preservation solutions, refined kitchen aesthetics, and sustainable growth opportunities.
