Hikvision Unveils 2024 ESG Report and THRIVE Initiative for Sustainability
Hikvision, the global leader in video surveillance technology, has recently released its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report for the year 2024, marking the seventh consecutive year of accountability in its ESG practices. This year’s report also introduces the THRIVE philosophy, a sustainability initiative aligned with its mission of 'Tech for Good.' The company has outlined five key focus areas that include Harmony, Reliability, Integrity, Value Creation, and Environment, aiming to foster a positive societal impact while enhancing business performance.
Identifying Key Themes in Sustainability
Through a thorough examination of global policies, ESG assessment criteria, and stakeholder feedback, Hikvision has pinpointed three critical themes for its initiatives: Technological Innovation, Cybersecurity & Privacy, and Response to Climate Change. These areas reflect the company's commitment to not only advancing technology but also ensuring that its implementations contribute positively to society.
Empowering Social Progress through Innovation
Hikvision has long prioritized innovative solutions to address societal challenges. Notably, the company has supplied traffic management solutions to over 300 cities, optimizing traffic flow at more than 53,000 intersections. Moreover, it has partnered with CHN Energy to develop an advanced, real-time, non-invasive technology for coal quality analysis using Bi-Spectrum, successfully overcoming the limitations of traditional methods.
In its STAR Program for Social Good, Hikvision uses its technologies for wildlife conservation, environmental protection, and cultural preservation. By 2024, it had formed partnerships with over 30 NGOs, achieving significant milestones such as enhancing fire safety at the historic Lanxi Bridge, a wooden bridge built in 1574, and modernizing the surveillance system in South Africa's Kariega Game Reserve.
Augmenting Cybersecurity and Data Privacy
Hikvision takes cybersecurity and data privacy extremely seriously. This dedication has been recognized through various prestigious certifications, including ISO 27017, ISO 27018, DCMM, and IEC 62443-4-1. In 2024 alone, the company introduced 26 cybersecurity courses and conducted 171 training sessions with a remarkable 100% employee participation rate. Additionally, Hikvision is fostering the next generation of talent by supporting its first hackathon at the 2025 Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) event in Barcelona.
Fighting Climate Change with CO₂ Emission Reduction Strategies
In response to climate change concerns, Hikvision has integrated decarbonization strategies into its corporate policies, embarking on a mission to achieve carbon neutrality through carbon-light products, intelligent manufacturing, eco-friendly operations, and digital transformation.
Key achievements include the verification of the carbon footprint for 103 models and the world's first certification for the Carbon Footprint of Product Process by Bureau Veritas. Furthermore, 16 of Hikvision’s LED displays received the Green Product Mark certification from TÜV Rheinland, making them the first in the LED display sector to achieve this accolade.
Commitment to a Sustainable Future
Hikvision remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainability, laying a robust foundation for stable business operations and shared values. As it continues to implement various initiatives, the company aspires to pave the way for a promising future, ensuring that technological advancements contribute positively to the world around us.
