Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas is set to make a significant leap into intercontinental aviation with the introduction of direct flights from Rio de Janeiro to Lisbon. This exciting announcement came after the airline revealed the addition of five new Airbus A330-900 aircraft to its fleet.

Starting from September 16, 2026, GOL will operate direct flights from Galeão International Airport (GIG) in Rio de Janeiro to Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) in Lisbon. Initially, the airline will run four weekly round-trip services, creating a seamless travel experience between Brazil and Portugal.

The flights from Rio de Janeiro will depart at 8:00 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Lisbon at 9:40 PM local time. On Fridays, the departure will be slightly earlier at 8:05 AM, with the plane landing at 9:45 PM in Portugal. After October 25, 2026, the schedule will adjust, with flights leaving at 9:00 AM and still arriving at 9:40 PM on the same weekdays.

Passengers traveling from Lisbon to Brazil can also look forward to convenient flight times. The flights will leave Lisbon at 11:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Rio de Janeiro by 5:30 AM the following day. A slight shift on Fridays will see flights departing at 11:35 PM, landing at 5:35 AM on Sundays.

Travelers can expect a comfortable in-flight experience aboard the Airbus A330, which seats approximately 300 passengers.
