Aviation Capital Group Partners with Skymark Airlines for Boeing 737-10 Fleet Expansion

Major Aircraft Lease Agreement

On the opening day of the Farnborough International Airshow, Aviation Capital Group LLC (ACG) announced a significant partnership with Skymark Airlines, one of Japan’s premium carriers. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for both companies, as ACG will lease seven Boeing 737-10 aircraft to Skymark. This move is part of Skymark's comprehensive strategy to expand and modernize its fleet.

Key Details of the Agreement

The lease agreement stipulates that the first Boeing 737-10 will be delivered to Skymark in 2028. This aircraft will play a crucial role in the airline's plans to enhance capacity on vital routes operating from Tokyo's bustling Haneda Airport, which is recognized as one of the busiest airports globally.

Thomas Baker, the CEO of ACG, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing its importance for airlines operating in high-density markets with limited slot availability. He stated, “For airlines serving high-density markets from slot-constrained airports, the ability to add capacity, improve efficiency, and maximize revenue opportunities is critical.” The Boeing 737-10, being the largest variant in the 737 MAX series, presents an optimal solution for Skymark's growth ambitions and operational flexibility.

Enhancing the Skymark Experience

Yoshihiro Miwa, the President and Representative Director of Skymark Airlines, also shared excitement regarding the new addition. He noted, “We look forward to operating the 737-10, which boasts the largest capacity in the MAX series.” This agreement is anticipated to foster more passenger engagement and enrich the Skymark flying experience, ensuring even more travelers can enjoy their services.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Skymark Airlines currently operates a fleet comprised of 30 Boeing 737-800s and 737-8s. Just recently, in May 2026, the airline became the first in Japan to fly the Boeing 737-8, demonstrating a commitment to modernizing its fleet and enhancing its market position.

ACG’s Role in the Market

As a key player in the aircraft leasing industry, Aviation Capital Group is recognized as a leading lessor for Boeing’s newest and most significant 737 MAX variant. ACG has established a robust orderbook for the 737-10 model, with expected delivery slots stretching from late 2026 through 2033.

Established in 1989, ACG has made its mark as one of the world’s premier full-service aircraft asset managers. Managing approximately 500 aircraft that are leased to about 90 airlines across 50 countries, ACG specializes in commercial aircraft leasing and provides various asset management services and aircraft financing solutions.

The collaboration with Skymark Airlines exemplifies ACG's continued commitment to supporting airlines in enhancing their operational capacities and modernizing their fleets, ensuring they remain competitive in the rapidly evolving aviation market. As more airlines increasingly look to upgrade their fleets to accommodate growing passenger demands, partnerships like these will be crucial for the future of air travel.

Looking Ahead

With the aviation landscape continuously evolving, collaborations like the one between Aviation Capital Group and Skymark Airlines showcase the vital role of strategic partnerships in ensuring fleet modernization and capacity enhancement. As Skymark prepares to welcome the new Boeing 737-10 aircraft into its fleet, the airline is poised for an exciting future in the competitive aviation sector.
