Sanwa Shutter Corporation Unveils YAG Door Green Flag
Sanwa Shutter Corporation, headquartered in Itabashi, Tokyo, has announced the launch of its new steel weight door, the YAG® Door, which is set to become available on December 1. Collaborating with Nippon Steel Corporation, this innovative door incorporates their GX Steel, known as NSCarbolex® Neutral, aiming to significantly reduce environmental impact while maintaining structural integrity.
In recent years, the move towards a decarbonized society has gained immense traction, with Sanwa Shutter actively participating in these eco-friendly initiatives. The YAG Door's outstanding feature is its construction method, which employs laser technology to assemble the steel surface material, leading to a 45% reduction in steel usage compared to traditional heavy steel doors. This not only promotes lightweight design but also contributes to resource conservation—attributes that have garnered widespread appreciation.
With its new commitment to sustainability, Sanwa Shutter has chosen to adopt Nippon Steel's low CO2 GX Steel for the YAG Door. This choice results in an impressive reduction of CO2 emissions associated with the production of each door. Based on the company's estimates, the typical door (measuring 800mm x 2000mm, single-opening without windows or louvres) already saves approximately 72 kg of CO2. Utilizing GX Steel further enhances this reduction by an additional 67 kg of CO2.
Sanwa Shutter aims to provide documented proof of this reduction through a
