Saitama Prefecture Hosts Seminar on Omiya Super Ballpark Initiative and Future Developments

Seminar on the Omiya Super Ballpark Initiative

Saitama Prefecture's Urban Development Division will be holding an informative seminar on January 22, 2026, to discuss the current status and future developments of the Omiya Super Ballpark Initiative. This event will feature a keynote speech by Mr. Fumitaka Toi, the head of the Parks and Stadium Division of Saitama's Urban Development Department.

Overview of Omiya Park

Omiya Park, a historical urban park celebrating its 140th anniversary, plays a pivotal role in Saitama's cultural and recreational landscape. The park boasts beautiful cherry blossoms and a vibrant sports community that includes well-loved venues like the baseball stadium where legends such as Babe Ruth and Shigeo Nagashima once played, and the home ground for the S.C. Urawa Reds.

Despite its rich heritage, Omiya Park faces challenges with aging sports facilities and evolving user needs. Thus, there is a pressing demand to innovate and elevate the park while honoring its legacy.
