Celebrated Artist Amir H. Fallah to Inspire Creativity at RMCAD

Celebrating Art and Inspiration

The Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) is thrilled to announce a special event as part of the 2025/2026 Recontextualize Series. Esteemed contemporary artist Amir H. Fallah will be visiting the campus to share his artistic insights and experiences, aiming to inspire the next generation of creatives.

Fallah is not just notable for his artistic talent but also for his significant contributions to the art community as the founder and former creative director of the influential magazine, Beautiful/Decay. His work delves deep into the immigrant experience, showcasing themes of identity, belonging, displacement, and the often-overlooked impacts of war and political dissent through his vibrant paintings.

On November 13, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. MT, Fallah will engage with the audience during an artist talk, where he is expected to discuss the myriad influences behind his creations. This talk is part of RMCAD's Visiting Artist, Scholar, and Designer (VASD) Program and is free and open to the public. Attendees who cannot be present in person can also participate through an online live stream.

In addition to the talk, RMCAD will host Amir H. Fallah's first solo exhibition in Colorado, titled "Lexicon", from November 13, 2025, to February 13, 2026. This exhibition promises to be a vibrant showcase of Fallah's distinctive artistic voice and vision, allowing viewers to engage with the complexities of identity and culture portrayed in his work.

Gretchen Schaefer, the director of the VASD Program, emphasized Fallah's unique ability to weave relevant themes into his art: "Few artists interweave as many topical themes in their work as Amir H. Fallah. He is sure to be a great inspiration to our students who are looking to express their personal experiences in today's socially and culturally charged environment." Fallah's accolades speak to his talent, including the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters & Sculptors Grant (2015), the Northern Trust Purchase Prize at EXPO Chicago (2019), and several others, highlighting his deep impact within the art community.

RMCAD, established in 1963, has become an important institution for those pursuing studies in art and design. With a commitment to artistic excellence, the college offers a variety of BFA degree programs, mentoring students through an integrated approach combining traditional education with real-world experiences. Students can learn remotely, gaining flexibility in their studies while still receiving top-notch guidance from industry-active professors.

As Fallah prepares to share his journey and insights, RMCAD looks forward to welcoming a diverse audience, eager to delve into the world of creativity and the artistic process. Interested individuals are encouraged to reserve their seats for the artist talk and actively participate in this unique opportunity to learn from a leading contemporary artist.
