Angel Yeast Revolutionizes Access to Quality Protein at FIC 2026

Angel Yeast, a prominent name in the yeast industry, made headlines at the Food Ingredients China (FIC) 2026 exhibition held from March 17-19 in Shanghai. The company displayed its latest developments in yeast protein, emphasizing its dedication to democratizing high-quality protein for a broader audience. This year’s event was pivotal, marking a significant shift in the alternative protein sector towards more practical applications focused on cost efficiency, improved taste and texture, and reliable supply chains.

New Product Launches

During the exhibition, Angel Yeast introduced two cutting-edge yeast protein products: AngeoPro™ Yeast Protein Hi90-A and Yeast Protein S80-A. These products cater to diverse market needs with distinct attributes. Hi90-A boasts an impressive protein content of 88%, designed to meet the rigorous demands of premium sports nutrition and specialized dietary requirements while providing a smooth mouthfeel and neutral flavor suitable for a variety of uses. Meanwhile, S80-A is tailored for emerging segments like ready-to-drink beverages and protein-infused waters, featuring complete water solubility.

Li Ku, General Manager of the Protein Nutrition and Flavoring Technology Center, emphasized that the launch signifies Angel's ongoing innovation in fermentation technology and advanced enzymatic hydrolysis. The company is also investing in developing functional yeast proteins that possess high gelation properties and elevated leucine content to broaden applications across various industries, such as meat production, sports nutrition, and nutritional support for the elderly. By doing so, Angel Yeast aims to make protein supplementation more accessible and enjoyable for everyday consumers.

Commitment to Global Outreach

Angel Yeast is firmly establishing itself as a leader in the global yeast protein market, significantly increasing its investment in research and development while collaborating with international research organizations on application studies pertaining to gut health and sports nutrition. In an effort to further establish industry standards, the company is poised to host the Second International Symposium on Yeast Protein Science and Technology in April, where it will unveil an industry white paper to promote consensus and knowledge sharing across the sector.

Recently, the company bolstered its production capabilities with the launch of a new yeast protein manufacturing line at the Baiyang Biotechnology Park in Yichang, which has added an annual production capacity exceeding 10,000 tons. To meet the rising demand for protein products, Angel Yeast is already planning additional expansions to elevate its supply capabilities further.

Innovative Market Solutions

A notable advancement in Angel Yeast's market strategy is the recent collaboration with Starbucks India. Through a partnership with the local nutrition brand SuperYou, the coffee giant has launched a novel protein cold foam utilizing Angel's AngeoPro yeast protein. This innovative topping is featured as a customizable option for beverages like Cold Brew, Iced Americano, and Frappuccino, enabling consumers to effortlessly enhance their drinks with an additional 11 to 18 grams of protein per serving. "When the foam on your coffee can contribute to your daily protein intake, we've made healthy nutrition much more accessible," remarked Jo Chang, Head of the Yeast Protein Division at Angel Yeast's International Business Center.

Future Vision

Looking toward the future, Angel Yeast aims to continue expanding its presence in the yeast protein sector. By collaborating with global partners, the company strives to offer healthier, more sustainable options to consumers while playing a vital role in transitioning the global food industry towards a greener and more equitable future. As the protein market evolves, Angel Yeast's innovations and commitment to quality position it as a catalyst for change within the food sector.
