Girl Scouts of the USA Launches Unique Program to Prepare Little Girls for School Success

In an exciting move designed to foster early childhood development, the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) has unveiled the Get Ready with Girl Scouts™ program. This initiative is aimed specifically at incoming Daisies—children entering kindergarten and first grade in fall 2025. Through this program, GSUSA hopes to give young girls an engaging start to their academic journeys, ensuring they feel confident, imaginative, and equipped with vital skills by the time school begins.

The Get Ready with Girl Scouts™ program, which is available from now until June 30, works to provide preschool and kindergarten girls with summer activities brimming with fun and friendship. It encourages participation from girls who are new to the organization while contributing to their social and personal development. Participants can expect to receive three activity books throughout the summer—from June to August 2025—packed with developmental tasks tailored to cultivate a variety of skills.

These preparatory activity books will be offered in both English and Spanish, catering to a diverse community. They are designed to facilitate key areas of development such as motor skills, communication, critical thinking, and emotional regulation through imaginative play, puzzles, and teamwork activities. Bonnie Barczykowski, GSUSA's Executive Director, emphasized the importance of providing this support, noting that the transition to a new school year can be daunting for many girls.

"Starting a new school year is a significant transition for girls, and Girl Scouts is delighted to assist parents and caregivers in preparing for these critical years," Barczykowski stated. "The Get Ready with Girl Scouts™ program will provide girls with the skills they need to navigate this transition, help them discover their own interests, and build their self-esteem, setting them up for success in kindergarten, first grade, and beyond."

Moreover, by joining the program, each girl will receive a membership in Girl Scouts that lasts until September 30, 2026. This membership opens doors to a plethora of activities, support from peers, and interactions with adult mentors who can play vital roles in their development. The aim is to create a nurturing environment where girls are encouraged to explore different interests and take charge of their growth.
