Stark Power Expands Footprint with Acquisition of Sagebrush Infrastructure, Securing Data Center Power Needs

Stark Power Expands Its Operations Through Sagebrush Infrastructure Acquisition

Stark Power Ltd., a leading player in energy infrastructure, has made headlines with its recent agreement to acquire 100% of Sagebrush Infrastructure Partners, a firm specializing in the development of large-scale data centers. With this strategic move, Stark aims to solidify its position in the market, particularly focusing on addressing the urgent power demands of hyperscale data centers in the U.S.

Strategic Importance of the Acquisition

Through this acquisition, Stark Power aims to secure a pipeline of 5.6 gigawatts (GW) for data center infrastructure across the Central U.S. This initiative comes in response to the critical need for reliable and efficient power solutions necessary for accommodating the rapid growth of digital services and data consumption.

The SAGE portfolio includes five data center campuses currently under development, all situated in strategic locations to provide essential support to the infrastructure challenges faced by the industry. Furthermore, in tandem with these data centers, SAGE is developing co-located natural gas-fired power plants. This approach ensures not only a dedicated power supply but also aims to alleviate burdens on the broader electrical grid, a common concern where high energy demands are prevalent.

Expertise and Leadership

A vital asset in this acquisition is the founding team of SAGE—Todd Cater, Timothy Dertzbaugh, and Michael Whalen. These individuals bring extensive experience in U.S. energy infrastructure and have previously been involved in developing and monetizing significant energy projects totaling 4.2 GW. Their addition is expected to bolster Stark Power's execution capabilities, especially when navigating complex site origination and grid interconnections.

The founders’ expertise aligns seamlessly with Stark Power’s mission, as the company was established by senior industry leaders from notable energy companies like Enlight Renewable Energy and Nofar Energy. This depth of knowledge enables Stark Power to efficiently execute large-scale energy projects that are essential in meeting industry standards.

Financial and Operational Backing

To support the development of the SAGE portfolio, Stark Power has secured a considerable financial backing of approximately NIS 430 million (around USD 140 million) from prominent Israeli institutional investors. This funding plays a crucial role in enabling the company to push forward with its ambitious plans in the U.S. power and infrastructure sectors while exploring additional opportunities across the nation.

Michael Avidan, the CEO of Stark Power, emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating, "Where power meets AI, execution is defined by the ability to deliver infrastructure at scale and with certainty." He recognizes the transformative potential of SAGE’s deep pipeline, as it directly enhances Stark's capability to deliver the 'Powered Land' solution demanded by the largest hyperscalers globally.

Future Prospects

Looking ahead, Stark Power is well-positioned for sustained growth. Supported by solid financial resources and a proven team adept in executing vital projects, Stark Power plans on evaluating and possibly acquiring further U.S. power and infrastructure opportunities, reinforcing its strategy to support major global data needs.

In conclusion, the integration of Sagebrush Infrastructure into Stark Power's operations not only highlights an innovative approach to addressing the power needs of hyperscale data centers but also effectively positions the company as a prominent entity in the power infrastructure market moving forward.
