Greenberg Traurig Fortifies Leadership With Sherry J. Sandler
In a strategic move to bolster its investment management and corporate practices, global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has appointed Sherry J. Sandler as a shareholder and co-chair of the firm's Investment Management Group. With nearly 25 years of experience in investment management law, Sandler's expertise comes from her previously held position at Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP, where she co-chaired the Corporate/Business Group and established its Investment Management and Funds practice.
Sandler’s impressive career began at Milbank LLP, where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions within the Global Corporate Group. Following her time there, she transitioned to significant in-house roles at prestigious financial institutions including Rodman & Renshaw Investment Bank and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Notably, she also founded a trading and capital markets advisory firm that catered to a wide range of financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies.
Executive Chairman Richard A. Rosenbaum expressed enthusiasm about Sandler's addition, emphasizing her multifaceted leadership qualities and her extensive experience in legal, regulatory, and compliance sectors. He explained how Sandler has developed a sophisticated investment management practice, which makes her a perfect fit for the firm’s growing Investment Management Group.
Sandler's role will involve expanding the firm's regulatory and fund capabilities while nurturing emerging talent and enhancing cooperation with various practices including Corporate, Private Equity, and Financial Regulatory Compliance. Long Island Co-Managing Shareholder, John P. McEntee, stated that Sandler’s understanding of the Long Island business environment would further strengthen local corporate connections with the firm's global resources.
With plans to also operate from the firm’s West Palm Beach office, Sandler aims to reinforce ties between Greenberg Traurig’s New York and Florida platforms, thus bolstering the firm’s financial services and corporate sectors in South Florida. West Palm Beach Managing Shareholder, Tracy L. Gerber, highlighted the regional significance of Sandler’s experience in financial services, which will be invaluable as the firm serves a rapidly evolving financial market.
Sandler's legal practice encompasses a diverse range of areas, including fund formation, securities regulation, and corporate governance. She is also dedicated to addressing complex business and regulatory matters for her clients by leading multidisciplinary teams.
Expressing her eagerness to join Greenberg Traurig, Sandler mentioned the firm's entrepreneurial spirit and expansive platform, which allows for tremendous growth opportunities while serving clients with diverse legal needs. Her educational qualifications include a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and a B.A. from Emory University, both earned magna cum laude. Sandler is admitted to practice in New York, and she remains actively involved in women's leadership within the financial industry, being a board member of Women in Funds and a leader at Women in Financial Markets.
On November 10, Sandler will also be honored with the Long Island Business News Leadership in Law Award, recognizing her contributions to the legal profession.
