GAC Launches AION UT and AION V in Italy
On October 8, 2026, GAC unveiled its latest models, the AION UT and AION V, with a media presentation and test drive event held at the Superstudio Più in Milan. This debut introduces a compact electric hatchback alongside a fully electric SUV to the Italian market, reflecting GAC's ongoing commitment to expanding its activities in Europe through local design, vehicle assembly, and customer service.
The AION UT, designed by the European GAC team in Milan, features a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, providing an impressive WLTP range of up to 430 km. Its compact dimensions are complemented by an interior meticulously crafted to maximize space for passengers. The AION V, on the other hand, presents an SUV alternative with a noteworthy WLTP range of up to 510 km, equipped with amenities such as an integrated heat pump, adjustable rear seats, and a trunk with three storage levels.
Over 40 journalists and industry representatives attended the launch event, which also included an exhibition titled "From Concept to Reality". This exhibition showcased concept car models developed by GAC Advanced Design Milan over the years, highlighting the design achievements of the center in conjunction with the two new vehicle offerings.
The test drives featured more than 30 journalists taking to the streets, allowing them to experience the AION UT on a 15-kilometer city route through Via Tortona and the Chiaravalle Abbey, while the AION V was driven along a 20-kilometer course that combined urban and suburban conditions. This program offered participants an opportunity to see how both vehicles perform in real-world driving situations.
GAC's entrance into the Italian market is a key part of its "In Europe, for Europe" strategy. The company collaborates with Magna for local vehicle assembly in Austria and partners with European suppliers such as Bosch and Continental. These initiatives enhance their design presence in Milan, alongside cooperative efforts with local dealerships.
To support its customer base, GAC has established a European parts and logistics center located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. With a spare parts delivery rate exceeding 95%, GAC guarantees that parts are shipped within 36 hours to destinations across Europe.
During the presentation, these regional activities were discussed in the context of GAC's broader international operations. The company's products are currently available in 121 countries and regions worldwide. In the first eight months of 2026, GAC exported over 172,000 vehicles, marking a remarkable increase of 136% compared to the previous year.
