Huawei and Moroccan Government Enhance Education Through DigiSchool Project

Transforming Education in Morocco with DigiSchool

Huawei Technologies has announced the successful completion of its DigiSchool 2024 project in Morocco. This initiative, launched in collaboration with the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, aims to enhance equal access to digital resources for students across the country, helping them meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital world.

A Government Reform Initiative

DigiSchool is a key component of Morocco's education reform plan for 2022–2026, designed to equip the next generation with necessary digital skills. David Li, Managing Director of Huawei Morocco, highlighted the importance of the project in fostering a robust public-private partnership. The initiative aligns with Huawei's global TECH4ALL strategy to promote digital inclusion in education.

Promoting Digital Skills

The primary objective of the DigiSchool project is to bolster digital skill development among both students and teachers. Training covers technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, networking, and application development. Participants also gained hands-on experience in robotics and coding through interactive games that inspire creativity.

The project unfolded in four phases:
1. Teacher Training: The first phase involved training 265 teachers in ICT skills across 12 regions of Morocco.
2. Long-term Support: The second phase focused on providing ongoing support to these teachers to implement the skills learned in classrooms filled with 2,650 students.
3. Local Hackathons: Between May and November, 12 local hackathons were organized across 12 regions, engaging 714 students tasked with developing ICT solutions to specific challenges.
4. Intensive Courses: The final phase, held in December, included intensive technology courses in Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir, attended by 180 students and 60 teachers. These courses aimed to refine the ICT skills developed during previous training sessions and hackathons.

Showcasing Innovation

During the final assessment of the program in Agadir from December 17 to 19, a high-level delegation, including Minister Mohamed Saad Berrada and regional education academy directors, evaluated students' newfound abilities. The event showcased innovative solutions developed during the hackathons, with top projects receiving recognition.

Commitment to Digital Education

The DigiSchool 2024 project's success contributes to the Moroccan government's ongoing efforts toward national education digitization, ensuring inclusion and equality. Huawei shares this vision, demonstrating technology's potential as a driver of progress and equality within education.

Through numerous educational initiatives globally under the TECH4ALL program, Huawei collaborates with partners like UNESCO and national ministries to implement DigiSchool projects in countries including Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, Chile, and China. The overarching goal is to connect remote schools to the internet and advance digital skills for teachers and students alike.

Looking Ahead

TECH4ALL is more than just an initiative; it represents Huawei's long-term commitment to digital inclusion and sustainable development in education. By leveraging innovative technologies and strategic partnerships, Huawei continues to pursue a future where education is inclusive and accessible to all.
