The prices for the curry are set at 2,800 yen during lunch (including tax, with soup and salad) and 2,400 yen for a single item during dinner, or 2,800 yen (including tax, with soup and salad).
The Heritage of Avion Beef Curry
Named after the original `Grill Avion`, the Avion Beef Curry is a tribute to the iconic French restaurant that introduced Tokyo to European-style cuisine amidst the cultural shift of the 1960s. Back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, dining at `Grill Avion` was a unique experience for those who couldn't easily travel abroad. The restaurant was famous for its rich beef curry, made from high-quality domestic beef and simmered for three days, resulting in a perfect blend of sweetness, spiciness, and aromatic flavors.
This classic recipe, carefully preserved by the Tokyo Airport Restaurant Co., Ltd., was successfully revived in 2008 with the establishment of CURRY DINING AVION. The restaurant quickly gained a loyal following, attracting not only local patrons but also international visitors looking for an authentic taste of Japan.
A Nod to the Past
The significance of Avion Beef Curry goes beyond just its flavors. The original `Grill Avion` boasted a magnificent interior that welcomed high-profile guests, including international artists and Hollywood actresses. Ornate chandeliers hung from lofty ceilings, the ambiance punctuated by the tantalizing aroma of food being prepared right in front of diners. Its distinctive decor and view of parked airplanes outside added to the allure of this upscale dining experience.
As the successor to this culinary tradition, Michio Sawada, executive chef of the Tailwind restaurant, expressed his excitement about continuing the legacy of the `Avion Beef Curry`.
