Mitaka City Launches Digital Gift Voucher Program

Mitaka City, in collaboration with Felica Pocket Marketing Co., Ltd., is set to launch a new digital gift voucher program aimed at supporting residents amid the economic impact of rising living costs. Starting from April 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, local residents will have the opportunity to apply for the 'Mitaka Digital Gift Voucher' through the established Mitaka Community Points App.

Overview of the Digital Voucher Program

The primary purpose of this initiative is to facilitate the digital transformation of transactions while bolstering local economic activity. It is worth noting that physical gift vouchers will not be issued, and all transactions must be completed digitally via the Mitaka Community Points App. The overall issuance amount for this program is set at 1.3 billion yen, including a premium of 300 million yen, represented by a 30% premium rate on vouchers sold.

Each voucher costs 1,000 yen but carries a value of 1,300 yen, offering significant savings for residents. Each participant can purchase up to 30 vouchers, allowing for a maximum investment of 30,000 yen, which converts into 39,000 yen worth of purchasing power. This structure not only provides immediate financial relief but also encourages the use of digital platforms.

Application Process

Residents looking to purchase vouchers must embark on a pre-application process. Should the total number of applications exceed the available funds, an equitable lottery system will be implemented, ensuring every participant has at least one opportunity to engage in the purchase. This application period begins on April 20, 2026, and runs until May 20, 2026, with the actual purchase period extending from June 10 to September 30, 2026.
