Community Support Events for the Elderly
On September 10, 2023, the third event of the community dedicated to supporting the elderly, known as 'Shuu-Sapo', was successfully held at the 'Sakura Terrace' healthy cafe in the i-Mall operated by the medical corporation Ikuseikai in Osaka. This initiative, organized by Akari Hoshou Co., aims to connect various service providers and share knowledge among them to support the increasing number of elderly individuals living alone in Japan.
The event saw participation from over 50 professionals from healthcare, finance, insurance, law, and funeral services, all collaborating to discuss and address the needs of elderly individuals without family support. Notable speakers included Nobuyuki Tani, advisor to Ikuseikai, who spoke about expectations for lifelong support providers in the future. Additionally, Kunio Oya from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance's Kansai Enterprise Sales Team shared insights on their newly launched 'Senior Life Support Service', which offers one-stop assistance for the challenges faced by the elderly and their families.

Background of the Initiative
The need for services supporting elderly individuals without family connections is growing in Japan due to an aging population. By 2050, the number of elderly individuals without children is projected to exceed 10 million, with over 4 million expected to lack relatives altogether. This rising trend has made it increasingly challenging for these individuals to secure necessary services, especially when it comes to having a 'guarantor' for admission to hospitals and care facilities.
Understanding this pressing issue, Akari Hoshou created the 'Shuu-Sapo' community, allowing various stakeholders, including medical, financial, and funeral service professionals, to collaborate and share knowledge. These regular seminars and networking opportunities are designed to provide a platform that is not only informative but also encouraging collaboration among service providers.
