Engaging Young Minds: The DOMINISTA CHALLENGE
The hospitality industry is often seen as a gateway to learning about teamwork, communication, and service. On July 17, 2025, Dormy Inn Ikebukuro will host the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE, a program aimed at high school students from Chuo High School. Organized by Kyoritsu Maintenance, this initiative has been nurturing students' career aspirations since 2019 across various hotels in Japan.
What is the DOMINISTA CHALLENGE?
The DOMINISTA CHALLENGE is a career experience program designed to provide middle and high school students with a hands-on understanding of the hospitality sector. Participants engage in activities like customer service at the reception, cleaning, and bed-making. These experiences allow students to explore the inner workings of a hotel while emphasizing the importance of community service and collaboration. At a time when cultural diversity is at the forefront of our daily lives, this program also encourages multicultural understanding among young participants.
In the past, 32 students from 11 schools in the Tokyo area have participated, gaining insight into their future career paths through experiential learning.

Perspectives on the Program
According to a representative from Chuo High School, this program is intended as an engaging summer course that encourages students to reflect on what it means to work and the significance of communication in their personal and professional lives. Through the experience of hotel work, students can grasp the essence of these concepts.
Toshiri Nakano, the manager of Dormy Inn Ikebukuro, commented, “Our hotel welcomes a diverse range of guests, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. We strive to leave our guests with a memorable experience, hoping they will return. I hope this career experience allows students to observe our team dynamics and inspires them to find joy in a hospitality career.”
The Importance of Career Education
As uncertainties rise in today's socio-economic landscape, providing students with tangible experiences of work and fulfillment is invaluable. Moreover, fostering a sense of attachment to their local communities is crucial, especially in light of Japan's declining population.
Through programs like DOMINISTA CHALLENGE, Kyoritsu Maintenance aims to help students develop empathy, understand the joy of work, and ignite a passion for their communities. By actively involving children in these initiatives, the hope is that they will not only contemplate their own futures but also take meaningful actions toward addressing local challenges.
