Chery's Guardian Battery Endures Over 53 Hours of Ocean Exposure in Indonesia
Chery's Guardian Battery: A True Test of Endurance
On June 17, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. launched the second phase of its International Safety Program in Jakarta, Indonesia. This phase focuses on extensive evaluations of vehicle safety through six extreme conditions: heat, cold, dryness, humidity, high speeds, and challenging terrains. The spotlight was particularly on the challenges posed by extreme humidity this time around.
During this rigorous testing, Chery showcased its "Guardian Battery" installed in the Super Hybrid (CSH) vehicles. Witnessed by representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, top media outlets, and industry experts, the battery remained submerged in saltwater for an astonishing 53 hours and 51 minutes without a hitch—it showed no signs of leakage, short circuits, or overheating. Even after such a trial, the battery maintained its structural integrity and passed all electrical insulation tests, successfully powering the vehicle on the first attempt.
The Guardian Battery boasts a waterproof and dustproof rating of IP68, along with an incredibly quick power-cut response time of just 2 ms. It can operate in a wide temperature range from -35°C to 60°C, and it includes a real-time monitoring system available 24/7, ensuring comprehensive safety thanks to advanced smart technology.
Apart from the battery, the Chery TIGGO8 CSH is designed for safety with a high-strength steel underbody shield that has a tensile strength of 780 MPa, significantly boosting overall vehicle safety. During the event, the spacious interior layout (5+2 seating arrangement) and the V2L ecosystem of the TIGGO8 CSH captured the audience's attention. The vehicle's third-row seats fold flat at the push of a button, leading to a cargo space capacity of 1930 liters, along with 36 storage compartments and an efficient V2L system with 3.3 kW output, ensuring comfort and utility for families on every journey.
Chery's commitment to safety advancement is unwavering. Driven by user needs and inspired by industry leaders like Volvo, the brand is continually raising its bar for technological innovations. This second phase of their international safety program in Indonesia demonstrated the efficacy of the safety technologies employed by the company.
Looking to the future, Chery aims to conduct stringent scratch resistance tests on the chassis in the Mexican market, further evaluating the safety of the CSH model and reinforcing its endeavor to provide safer and more reliable automotive solutions globally. This relentless pursuit of innovation and safety underscores Chery's mission to lead in the realm of automotive excellence, making them a notable player in the industry's global landscape.
