Kikkoman's Latest Soy Sauce Innovations
On February 2, Kikkoman Foods proudly unveils two new additions to its ‘Always Fresh’ series: the 'Marouma-style Soy Sauce' (620ml) and 'Delicious Dashi Soy Sauce for Udon' (200ml), which will be available across the country.
Marouma-style Soy Sauce (620ml)
The 'Marouma-style Soy Sauce' features the rich, mellow flavor that comes from using whole soybeans, delivering a robust taste experience (1). Enhanced with pure rice mirin, it boasts a depth of flavor with a natural sweetness. This low-sodium option cuts salt by 20% but maintains a well-rounded umami flavor, ensuring that it never feels lacking in taste. It is ideal for dipping sashimi or egg-over-rice, as well as for cooking, enhancing stir-fries and stews alike.
The packaging, bright and illustrated, is designed to evoke a homey dining experience. With its motto of 'Enjoying flavor without the saltiness', this soy sauce aims to elevate daily cooking, making meals delicious and appealing for the whole family.
Delicious Dashi Soy Sauce for Udon (200ml)
Udon has become a staple in Japanese households throughout the year, and the 'Delicious Dashi Soy Sauce for Udon' has been created to make preparing udon at home simpler and more enjoyable (2). This soy sauce blends six types of domestic dashi (bonito, skipjack tuna, dried sardine, kelp, dried anchovy, and shiitake mushrooms) with three distinct soy sauces to achieve a flavor that perfectly complements udon. The sauce is infused with umami and just the right amount of sweetness, ensuring that the udon retains its delicious taste to the last bite.
This product is designed for convenience; there’s no need to dilute it with water. Simply pour your desired amount (3) over your udon to achieve the perfect taste. It’s particularly recommended for dishes like 'Kamatama Udon' and 'Bukkake Udon.'
(1) Whole soybean soy sauce is made using whole soybeans, allowing the natural oils in the soybeans to contribute to its distinctive umami flavor. The oils break down during fermentation, producing glycerin, which adds the characteristic sweetness and mild aromatic profile.
(2) Source: Statistics Bureau of Japan, Household Budget Survey on annual expenditures per household for soba and udon.
(3) The recommended serving is approximately one tablespoon (15ml) per udon serving.
Both new products in the 'Always Fresh' series have been designed with convenience in mind. The 200ml bottle allows for 90 days of room-temperature storage after opening, while bottles over 450ml maintain their freshness for 120 days (4). With a 'sealed bottle' to prevent contamination and allow for easy pouring in any desired quantity, these products are user-friendly and designed for everyday use.
(4) Note that the duration for maintaining freshness at room temperature may vary for some products.
Kikkoman remains committed to developing products that cater to the needs of its customers, ensuring innovative and flavorful options for every kitchen.
