Zoomlion Expands Its Mining Machinery Business with Rising International Sales
Zoomlion Steps Up Its Mining Machinery Business
CHANGSHA, China, October 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., known as Zoomlion, is making significant strides in its mining machinery segment, driving international growth and increasing its global market share. In the first half of 2026, the company witnessed a remarkable more than 57.20% year-on-year growth in its mining machinery revenues. This increase coincides with a 12.45% rise in total international sales, which reached 15.535 billion RMB, accounting for 57.25% of the company's overall revenue.
Growth in Key Global Markets
Zoomlion is not only focusing on expanding its operations in mining but is also strengthening its presence across three key global markets for construction, agricultural, and mining machinery. Their mining portfolio includes cutting-edge technologies for excavation, loading, transportation, crushing, and screening. The flagship models designed for this segment include the ZE4000G, a 400-ton mining excavator, and the ZTE520, a hybrid-electric mining truck with a payload capacity of 300 tons.
Zoomlion’s heritage in the mining sector goes back several decades. In 1987, the company's predecessor, the Changsha Construction Machinery Research Institute, was awarded by the State Council for developing a complete open-pit mining system capable of producing 10 million tons annually. This historical expertise is critical as Zoomlion continues to innovate, reducing operational costs for its machinery through ongoing product development, practical testing, and integration of new technologies.
Innovative Approach to Reduce Costs
The company emphasizes aligning its machinery development with real-world mining conditions. During a previously reported six-month period, Zoomlion's research teams visited around 150 active mines worldwide, identified over 50 technical challenges, and incorporated those insights into their product development process. As Wu Yuanfeng, Deputy General Manager of Zoomlion Mining Machinery, stated, “We calculate the operating costs over the entire life cycle of our machines, allowing customers to recognize the economic benefits they offer.” For instance, their fully electric products can potentially lower costs by more than 50%, while hybrid models could enhance profitability by 15% or more—a significant advantage for mining operations aiming for efficiency and quality output.
Focus on electrified mining equipment is growing, as seen with their hybrid dump trucks, which can reduce fuel consumption by up to 40%. Furthermore, their 100-tonne class battery-electric dump trucks have reportedly achieved over 8,000 hours of stable operation. The ZT160HEV hybrid dumper is capable of autonomous operation for up to 18 hours continuously.
To optimize productivity, Zoomlion incorporates automation and digital technologies within their mining solutions. The use of autonomous trucks, remote-controlled excavators, and coordinating fleet systems has already shown substantial results; in one major metal open-pit mine in northern China, the system increased the average daily trips per truck by over 10%.
Expanding International Footprint
Zoomlion's efforts to penetrate international markets have proven fruitful, with electrified machines being deployed in coal mines in Indonesia, open-pit operations in Argentina, and diversified projects in Ecuador and several African nations. By the first half of 2026, the company reported international sales reaching 15.535 billion RMB, a growth of 12.45% compared to the same period the previous year. The international business now comprises 57.25% of their total sales, showing a 1.67 percentage point increase from the prior year. Notably, growth in regions such as South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, and East Asia has surpassed the overall international growth rate.
To further support its international endeavors, Zoomlion is augmenting its local manufacturing, sales, and service capabilities. As of June 30, 2026, the company operated more than 30 main business hubs globally, alongside 530 secondary and tertiary locations, as well as over 300 spare parts warehouses. The Hungarian facility for aerial work platforms has commenced production, while the German site has been expanded into a multi-purpose facility.
“Our operational teams overseas and our back office teams are now digitally connected, allowing for seamless coordination around the clock,” said Liu Jianqiang, Marketing Director at Zoomlion and Deputy General Manager for the international business.
Zoomlion's expansion in the mining machinery sector, paired with ongoing international growth, is set to diversify the company's revenue streams even further. The impressive 57.20% year-on-year growth in their mining machinery business underscores their commitment to developing local capabilities within international markets, ensuring a robust future for the company.
