Zoomlion Expands Its Mining Machinery Business Amid Rising International Sales
Zoomlion's Bold Expansion in Mining Machinery
Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., a leading player in construction and mining equipment, is significantly amplifying its presence in the mining sector. As reported, the company has witnessed a remarkable growth of over 57.20% in its mining machinery segment for the first half of 2026, compared to the same period the previous year. During this timeframe, Zoomlion's total international revenue reached 15.535 billion RMB, marking a 12.45% increase and accounting for 57.25% of the company’s total revenue. This growth demonstrates the company’s commitment to enhancing its international footprint, especially within the mining industry.
Expansion of Product Portfolio
Zoomlion's mining machinery portfolio includes pivotal equipment designed for various operations such as excavation, loading, transport, crushing, and screening. Noteworthy products from Zoomlion include the ZE4000G, a 400-ton mining excavator, and the hybrid ZTE520 mining dump truck, which boasts a nominal payload of 300 tons. The robust design and substantial capacity of these machines illustrate Zoomlion’s capacity to cater to the demanding requirements of modern mining operations.
Historical Foundation and Evolution
The roots of Zoomlion in the mining engineering sector trace back to 1987, when its predecessor, the Changsha Construction Machinery Research Institute, was awarded a State Council prize for developing a comprehensive open-pit mining operation system. This system had the capacity to process 10 million tons annually, setting the stage for Zoomlion's longstanding commitment to innovation in machinery design and functionality.
Focus on Cost Efficiency and Sustainability
A crucial factor behind Zoomlion's recent surge in mining machinery growth is its focus on reducing operating costs through innovative product development, real-world testing, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies. The company emphasizes the importance of tailoring equipment designs to reflect real operational conditions in mines worldwide. During the aforementioned six-month period, Zoomlion’s research teams visited approximately 150 mines worldwide, identifying and addressing over 50 technical issues. Insights gained on-site have directly informed product development strategies.
Wu Yuanfeng, Deputy General Manager of Zoomlion Mining Machinery, explained: "We calculate operating costs across the entire lifecycle of the equipment, allowing customers to recognize the economic advantages they provide." The company’s 100% electric products contribute to more than 50% cost reduction, while hybrid models can enhance profitability by over 15%, facilitating a transition to more effective and higher-quality operations in the mining sector.
Advancements in Electrification
Electrified mining equipment stands as a priority initiative for Zoomlion. Its hybrid mining trucks are designed to cut fuel consumption by up to 40%, while fully electric mining trucks in the 100-ton category have logged over 8,000 hours of stable operation. One notable model, the hybrid ZT160HEV, has an impressive operational capability of up to 18 hours autonomously.
Embracing Automation and Digital Solutions
Additionally, Zoomlion is actively utilizing automation and digital technologies to enhance mining productivity. The introduction of autonomous trucks, remote-controlled excavators, and a mining fleet coordination system has significantly advanced operational efficiencies. In a major open-pit metal mine in Northern China, this digital system resulted in more than 10% increase in the average daily truck trips, showcasing the tangible benefits of technological integration within operations.
Global Market Penetration
Zoomlion is making substantial inroads into various international markets by supplying electrified equipment to coal mines in Indonesia, open-pit mining operations in Argentina, and projects in Ecuador alongside several African nations. This international sales success is reflective of the company's strategic expansion initiatives. In the first half of 2026, the foreign sales of Zoomlion represented an increase in overall international revenue, substantiating the company's growth trajectory in markets across South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, and East Asia.
Boosting Local Capabilities
To further bolster its international activities, Zoomlion is enhancing local manufacturing, sales, and after-sales support capabilities. As of June 30, 2026, the company managed over 30 main business hubs, more than 530 secondary and tertiary sales points, and over 300 spare parts warehouses globally. This includes the commencement of operations at its Hungarian facility for aerial lifts and the expansion and modernization of its German site into a multifunctional hub.
Liu Jianqiang, Marketing Director and Deputy General Manager for International Operations at Zoomlion, emphasized, "Our operational teams overseas and administrative staff are digitally interconnected, enabling smooth coordination round the clock." The ongoing development in the mining machinery industry and the persistent growth in international operations are broadening Zoomlion’s revenue sources, fortifying its position as a leader in the global mining machinery market.
