Lindsey Carnett Becomes First Executive Ambassador for Relay For Life in Conejo Valley
The American Cancer Society's Conejo Valley Chapter has made an impressive move by appointing Lindsey Carnett, the CEO and President of Marketing Maven, as the inaugural Executive Ambassador for the Relay For Life event in the area. This significant announcement coincides with the upcoming 40th anniversary of Relay For Life, a global fundraising initiative aimed at combating cancer. The announcement was made by Abby Smith, Senior Development Manager at the American Cancer Society, who expressed her enthusiasm about Carnett's new role and her organization's partnership with her.
Carnett, who has been a committed supporter of Relay For Life and the ACS for the past two years, will take on her role at the Relay For Life of Conejo Valley event scheduled for September 27, 2025. This event will be held at California Lutheran University's Memorial Field in Thousand Oaks, where participants will come together to honor cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and celebrate the strides made in the battle against cancer over the last four decades.
In her new position, Carnett will leverage her extensive network and influence to drive awareness and raise crucial funds for the American Cancer Society. She noted her personal experiences with cancer's impact on friends and family as motivating factors for her commitment. "I have witnessed the advancements in cancer treatments throughout the years via friends and family. Everyone knows someone who is affected by cancer," Carnett remarked, highlighting the importance of community support and resources made available by the American Cancer Society.
The Relay For Life will present various engaging activities, including a fun non-competitive 5K run and teams walking together to maintain a presence on the track throughout the 12-hour event. Games and fundraising initiatives at participant booths will actively contribute to raising funds for cancer research and support programs.
Carnett’s leadership is expected to inspire community action and collaboration, enhancing the mission of the ACS. The event will host local bands, food, and activities for all ages, bringing together a passionate community of supporters dedicated to ending cancer as we know it. The day seeks to create a deeply meaningful and lively atmosphere as attendees celebrate survivors, recall loved ones who have succumbed to cancer, and collectively advocate for a future free from the disease.
In her own words, Carnett expressed gratitude for her appointment as Executive Ambassador, stating, "It means so much to me. I feel fortunate to help drive awareness and participation for this very worthy cause." With her profound commitment to the cause, Carnett aims to lead initiatives that further formulate partnerships and alliances to augment the mission of saving lives and fostering a supportive community for cancer patients.
The legacy of Relay For Life originates from Dr. Gordy Klatt’s walk-a-thon in 1985, which sought to bring attention and funds for cancer research. His vision has since transformed into one of the largest fundraising events globally, uniting teams to continuously fight against cancer.
Carnett’s marketing firm, Marketing Maven, known for its innovative strategies and notable recognition in the industry, underscores her capability to deliver on this mission. With its headquarters based in the Greater Los Angeles area and an additional office in New York City, the agency offers services ranging from public relations to comprehensive digital marketing initiatives.
As Carnett embarks on this new journey, the American Cancer Society and the Conejo Valley community remain optimistic about the impact her involvement will have. By rallying collective efforts, participants and supporters alike can further ensure that everyone has a chance to raise their voices and take action against cancer, demonstrating that together, change is not only possible but imminent.
