Three Sticks Wines Charts a New Path After RNDC California Shutdown

In the wake of the RNDC California shutdown, many wineries found themselves lost and seeking direction. However, Three Sticks Wines, a proud independent producer established in the heart of Sonoma, refused to let uncertainty steer their journey. Instead, they have chosen to harness the power of community and innovation to pave a way forward in these challenging times.

This summer, Three Sticks Wines proudly introduced their collaboration with Urban Wines, a hybrid brokerage established by industry connoisseur Scott Harvey. This strategic partnership guarantees that Three Sticks' small-batch, highly sought-after wines will maintain their presence in the marketplace, catering to wine enthusiasts who value authenticity and craftsmanship.

Colette Simpson, Assistant General Manager at Three Sticks Wines, remarked, "When RNDC CA collapsed, we were faced with two options: wait for a larger distributor to recognize our value or take matters into our own hands. Urban Wines is the ideal collaborator — they embody flexibility, passion, and a deep-rooted commitment to supporting small producers like us who cherish their heritage."

A Legacy of Community and History

Three Sticks isn't just another winery; it's a living homage to the distinctive characters and rich history enveloping Sonoma. Their headquarters, the historic Vallejo-Casteñada Adobe, traces back to 1842 when it was erected for General Mariano Vallejo, a pivotal figure in California's history. This adobe structure was lovingly restored by renowned designer Ken Fulk, transforming it into a charming space that celebrates its historical significance.

The winery’s vineyards hold stories of their own. Durell Vineyard, acquired from the late Ed Durell in 1997, stands as one of Sonoma’s most cherished locations. Another treasure is Gap's Crown Vineyard, procured by owner Bill Price — a notable figure in the wine industry, best known for his previous success with the iconic Kosta Browne Winery.

The vineyards, the historic Adobe, and the talented individuals that comprise the Three Sticks team exemplify the spirit and dedication to crafting exceptional wines that narrate their rich stories with every sip.

Embracing a New Future with Urban Wines

The alliance with Urban Wines heralds a thrilling new chapter for Three Sticks. This hybrid brokerage structure provides the winery with the nimbleness and personalized attention of a boutique broker while simultaneously granting access to extensive networks and partnerships vital for maintaining visibility across restaurants, shops, and private collections throughout California and beyond.

As Three Sticks Wines looks toward the horizon, their mission remains consistent: to deliver extraordinary, estate-grown wines to those who value craftsmanship, community, and heritage — all while doing it on their own terms.

"We may be small, but we are mighty, and our journey is far from finished," Colette said, encapsulating the winery's resilient spirit. "We are just getting started."
