Cardinal Health Expands Distribution Network with New Facilities in Texas and California

Cardinal Health Expands Distribution Network

In a significant move for its at-Home Solutions business, Cardinal Health has officially opened a new distribution center in Fort Worth, Texas. This facility, which is dedicated solely to providing vital medical supplies, marks an important milestone for the company, which serves over six million people across the United States every year. The newly established 340,000 square foot center is capable of shipping about 10,000 packages daily, ensuring timely delivery of critical medical supplies needed to assist patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes and urological issues.

A Testament to Growth

This latest addition is the third distribution center that Cardinal Health has launched in just three years, reflecting a strategic focus on expanding its logistics capabilities. The company has already expanded its distribution network by over 750,000 square feet through three new facilities in Texas, South Carolina, and Ohio, all equipped with cutting-edge robotics and automation technology. Jamie Deist, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain for at-Home Solutions, emphasized the importance of investing in the supply chain, stating, “Investing in our supply chain is not a 'nice to have' – it is a must-have.” This forward-thinking approach has resulted in record levels of service quality and efficiency within their operations.

Future Expansion Plans

Cardinal Health’s growth is not stopping with the Texas distribution center. The company has revealed plans for a new facility in Sacramento, California, which is set to break ground this fiscal year. This site will also be dedicated to at-Home Solutions and is expected to enhance delivery capabilities on the West Coast, a crucial step in meeting the needs of customers located in that region. Additionally, existing infrastructure will be upgraded with state-of-the-art technology, including a fully automated outbound conveyor system at the Ontario distribution center.

Rob Schlissberg, President of at-Home Solutions, highlighted the strategic necessity of this expansion, stating, “Expanding in the West Coast is absolutely critical as we seek to get packages to the people we serve faster and more efficiently than ever before.” With this new facility, Cardinal Health aims to capitalize on the numerous carrier hubs and customers concentrated in California, streamlining the distribution process.

Commitment to Innovation

The new Sacramento location is planned to be fully operational by the summer of 2027, further solidifying Cardinal Health's commitment to innovation and operational excellence. As a major distributor of pharmaceutical and medical products, the company’s strategic initiatives aim to improve patients’ access to necessary medical supplies, ultimately enhancing their quality of life. With a customer-centric focus, Cardinal Health is continuously looking for opportunities to enhance its product delivery and improve the health outcomes for millions of people.

In conclusion, Cardinal Health's dedication to investing in its distribution network not only showcases its growth ambition but also illustrates its commitment to ensuring that essential medical supplies are rapidly and efficiently delivered to those in need. As the healthcare landscape evolves, Cardinal Health remains steadfast in its mission to offer innovative solutions that enhance patient care through improved logistics and technology.
