BE OPEN Celebrates Youth Contributions to Sustainable Energy Initiatives at World Sustainable Energy Days

BE OPEN Recognizes Young Innovators in Sustainable Development

BE OPEN recently took the stage at the World Sustainable Energy Days (WSED) held from February 24 to 27 in Wels, Austria, to highlight the invaluable contributions of young people to sustainable development.

WSED is an annual global conference that gathers representatives from over 60 countries to discuss energy transition and climate neutrality, featuring forums for emerging researchers in energy efficiency and biomass. This gathering also provided the perfect platform for BE OPEN to unveil its sustainability-focused competition program.

Launched seven years ago by the organization, this competition aims to reward innovative ideas from students and young graduates, thereby fostering groundbreaking solutions for sustainable energy. Participants stand a chance to win monetary prizes and gain crucial networking opportunities with key decision-makers in sustainable development.

Emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices, BE OPEN chooses to focus on a specific Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) each year. This initiative is designed to raise awareness and inspire young talent in creative and engineering fields, encouraging them to embrace problem-solving approaches.

Elena Baturina, founder of BE OPEN and philanthropist, expressed her enthusiasm about shaping new leaders in sustainability, stating, "Through our competitions, we celebrate and support the most promising design concepts from young innovators worldwide. Many of you will soon lead the charge in sustainable energy industries and inspire future generations of innovators. BE OPEN will continue to provide a platform for discussion, idea exchange, and self-education to strengthen youth confidence and awareness of their critical roles in shaping our future."

BE OPEN positions itself as a think tank dedicated to promoting contemporary ideas and individuals that will influence tomorrow’s solutions. Founded in 2014, it has consistently supported initiatives in renewable energy and groundbreaking research. Through conferences, exhibits, and cultural events, BE OPEN harnesses the creative potential of bright young minds to address pressing global challenges.

The WSED conference featured a range of activities, allowing participants to interact with industry experts, European officials, and public organizations, fostering collaboration and innovation. The recognition of youth contributors during such a pivotal event underscores the vital role they play in driving the transition to sustainable energy. As the global community increasingly prioritizes sustainability, platforms like BE OPEN serve as a critical bridge between youthful creativity and practical solutions.
